I have to agree with @Fuzeamuze, without other solutions, there is no way the headset would be able to fully track you. the best option (not including Kinect and suits/3rd party solutions etc.) would be to bring back the oculus CV1 sensors and vive-like tracking pucks.

unfortunately, the closest thing we have so far is taking out the batteries. I find the batteries make a reasonable life though, 2-3 days before I need to take out the batteries. I'd recommend checking to make sure that nothing is touching the controllers and hitting a button when you put them down, it should sleep after around 5-15 mins.

I was so cheesed when I heard the quest was getting these updates. but their more powerful, and more capable HMD wasn't yet. it's like a new technology being found, installed in phones but not computers, even though it should be compatible. it will also make the fiddly virtual keyboard bearable

Great idea! I have a friend that has pretty serious back issues meaning he can't walk much further than a mile without severe back pain, he loves VR and enjoyed it when I showed it to him, but after a while, his back started playing up as he was sitting in a chair, so I tried to trick the Rift S by setting it up laying down, but it has gyroscopes, accelerometers, altimeters etc. which knew I was laying down. he was OK with the idea of only playing for an hour at a time but I could tell he wanted to play more, this type of setting would really help!
