The Quest and 360 cameras are soulmates. Oculus should support the Apps of all credible 360 manufacturers because the owners urgently need a quality platform to view their files. The Insta360 one x is currently the best consumer 360 on the market, the Quest the 6DoF of choice and any company with any level of business acumen would realise the benefits of supporting these vendors (same applies to Ricoh, Samsung and GoPro).

Looking at 360 vids and photos from our holidays was one of the best things to use the Quest for, especially now we can’t go anywhere. I bought the 256GB Quest 2 to store more on my headset than I could on my original Quest only to find the Gallery app is not there. There’s some mention of using the TV app in the future- not OK, but don’t remove one until the other one is ready.
What concerns me is how this TV app will work. Will it only be through streaming? Gallery allowed us to store files locally and not have to stream them from a NAS or YouTube or wherever. The quality is far better played locally and can be viewed offline and, most importantly, shown to friends and family without the need for being connected. Is Facebook not being able to know what we’re looking at part of the reason for the removal? If so, this is another nail in the coffin.
Please listen to your customers and enable Gallery for the Quest 2.
