Someone can steal my idea. The mention of a constellation api for trackables would be great. I propose, though, that you develop small inexpensive IR tracking devices that you can attach to other real world objects. For example, I would love to use my real keyboard in VR, but I'm always bumbling around trying to find it. You could attach a tracker to it, and slap a photo of the keyboard onto it, and voila keyboard in game. You could do this with all kinds of stuff. If you don't want the objects always in view, set a distance threshold where they appear only within a range.

Yes, this. I proposed the use of inexpensive IR trackables you could attach to the objects as well. That way their positions get updated. Just imagine a beer coozy you can see in game when you approach it.
