You say you will listen to community feedback regarding the ad system. I hope this feedback is added to a long list of entries where people share their thoughts on the issue. I for one think it's offensive that you consider it acceptable to be potentially forcing ads on users that have paid for their console and their content. This is clearly not for the benefit of anyone using an Oculus product, and no real user would say they benefit from being advertised to through their VR headset. This is a disgusting reach of power for the sake of capital gain, and if this survives testing and goes out to the general public, rest assured that you will lose a lot of business from people like me, of which (as I'm sure you're already well aware) there are many. You've given your competitors an edge simply by giving them the opportunity to say "we won't put ads on the console you paid for / the games you paid for." The fact that advertisers have a safe haven on phones and computers is bad enough, but to force it on us in our gaming consoles in the way that you propose to do it is both unprecedented and unwarranted. In short, stop money-grubbing, or your business will justifiably suffer. I don't want to not support Oculus, but this is a deal breaker for me and many others like me. Wise up and quit this while you still have something to salvage.
