Oculus Quest

Welcome to the Oculus Quest feedback forum! This is the location to provide all your feature requests and ideas for the Oculus Quest platform. We're looking forward to hearing from you on the following areas of the product:

  • Companion App: This category is for feedback relating to the Oculus mobile app, specifically for how the mobile app interacts with the Oculus Quest platform.
  • Core Software / Guardian: All Oculus Quest main menu, navigation, Guardian, and settings feedback should be left under this category.
  • First Party Apps: This category is for in-VR apps created by Oculus, like Oculus TV.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place.
Please do your best to ensure all ideas are original and have not been previously submitted. Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Quest!
  1. 3DOF mode for using the Quest in the dark

Currently you can't use Quest in the dark at all. Technically 3DOF tracking should work (just like the Go), so people can watch videos even in a dark environment.
Just add a notification like "Tracking error. Would you like to use Quest in 3DOF mode?"

Thanks for voting for this idea! This feature has been added as part of the v9 software update that began rolling out earlier this week. You can find this option as a toggle called “Tracking” under the Settings > Device menu. It will also be offered as an option when the headset detects that your headset is in a playspace without sufficient light for tracking. See you in VR!

  2. Allow us to use the high bandwidtch USB C connection to use the quest as a PC VR headset.

Thanks again for voting for this idea! We have added the ability to play Rift content on Quest with Oculus Link, available now in Beta! Check out the blog post for more details: https://www.oculus.com/blog/play-rift-content-on-quest-with-oculus-link-available-now-in-beta/

Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the feature to appear within your headset. If you still do not see the feature after that time, please reboot your Quest headset and log out and back into your account on the Oculus PC software.

  3. Let us start apps from within the companion app for demoing purposes

It can be hard for newcomers to demo the Quest when they have no idea what to do or can not find the app.
People should be able to start an app as long as the Quest is connected to your smartphone remotely.

Hi everyone! Thanks for voting for this idea. As mentioned in a few comments below, this functionality was added as part of a previous software update. Navigate to your library within the Oculus companion app, select the game or app you want to launch, and hit start. Alternatively, if you are casting your headset’s view to your phone, you can select the library icon in the top right of the casting view and select an app to launch it. We’ll continue to work on new, helpful companion app features, but in the meantime we hope you enjoy this one!

  4. Fix the 'Crash to Home' bug- Any app (all app) screen turn black, Guardian wall appear and app crash to home. Fix?

  5. Allow Casting of Games Like Beat Saber

Let us cast games like beat saber. Party mode is pointless casting a blank screen. I can understand restricting livestreams, but local casting?

Thanks for supporting this idea! I’ve confirmed with the team that casting functionality has been enabled for Beat Saber on Oculus Quest and can be used to show off your best rhythm slashing skills! To learn more about casting on Quest, please check out the following support article: https://support.oculus.com/1053142614872870/. See you in VR!

  6. Compatibility with Oculus Go apps

It would be great to be able to get back into a few of my Oculus Go apps on the Quest. I personally purchased quite a few games and apps and I would be delighted to keep them all together on the higher quality Quest.

Good news! This feature is now live as of the v9 software update that has rolled out this week! Check the top left corner of your library for a drop down that will allow you to view your Go / Gear VR apps and games that are compatible with Oculus Quest. Enjoy!

  7. Remove prompt in headset for casting

Most of the times when I want to cast from my Quest to my phone, it is to supervise the VR experience of someone with little VR experience.

Having the prompt inside the VR headset to accept the casting becomes tricky with inexperienced users, who usually don't understand how to navigate the UI or aren't fully spatially aware -- so while they're struggling, I can't see what they see.

The phone I'm casting to is already logged into my account, why is this permission step needed? Or possibly have a setting to disable or always accept the casting via a…

Hey everyone! As noted by a few comments below, this option was added as part of a previous software update. When you initiate casting, you will receive a pop up confirmation in VR. However, there is a option within this pop up that allows you to opt out of this notification in the future. Simply tick that box and accept the casting request. If you do this, you should not receive this confirmation dialog in future casting sessions.

Additionally, as part of the most recent v10 software update, you can now initiate casting from within VR rather than starting the casting session from your phone. While in VR, head to Sharing > Cast on the universal menu bar and select your desired device form the list. We hope this makes the casting experience easier for everyone!

  8. Charging while shutdown keeps turning on quest

For people new to the quest, you may or may not have noticed this incredibly annoying issue yet.

Upon release of the oculus go headset, there was an issue whereby any power received by the headset while it was in a full shutdown state would automatically turn the headset back on again.

This caused issues where the headset was left on charge then packed away without thought, only to find it was out of battery next time it was used.

This was later fixed by an update for the oculus go, the same issue is unfortunately present on the quest

Thanks for sharing and voting for this feedback. We believe that the root cause of this issue was identified and resolved within the v7 software update that rolled out in July. The headset should no longer power on upon being plugged in. As a result, we are marking this idea as complete. If you continue to experience this behavior or run into any other issues, please contact Oculus support. Thank you!

  9. "Night Mode" option to decrease blue light exposure

Similar to what applications like "f.lux" have been accomplishing on computers. Most modern computer operating systems (including Windows 10), Android phones, and iPhones now offer this feature natively.

Link to Apple article on it: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT207570

Excerpt: "Night Shift automatically adjusts the colors of your display to the warmer end of the spectrum—making the display easier on your eyes.

Night Shift uses the clock and geolocation of your iOS device to determine when it’s sunset in your location. Then it automatically shifts the colors of your display to warmer colors. In the morning, it returns the display to its regular settings."

Thanks for submitting and voting for this idea! We’ve added an option in the settings panel for Night Display mode as part of the 8.0 software update that began rolling out at the end of last month. This option changes your headset display to warmer colors, which may be easier on your eyes. While in VR, you can access the feature by heading to Settings > See All > Device. Enjoy!

Thanks for voting for this idea! As part of the July v7.0 Quest software update, we added the ability to type using both controllers at the same time. This actually extends beyond just typing on the keyboard, as you can use both controllers to interact with a variety of elements at the same time, like the store and your library. We hope you like it!

  11. Ability to remove titles from library

I’ve somehow ended up with both the Beat Saber demo and full version. I’d quite like to remove the demo from my library, but I can’t!

As noted below, if you hover over an app’s tile in your library and click the three dots in the bottom right corner, you can select uninstall. This will move the item from the Apps section of your library to the Not Installed section. The Not Installed area hosts all the apps that you have purchased or downloaded previously, but are no longer downloaded and installed on your device. Utilizing this uninstall feature should allow you to remove the Beat Saber demo from the Apps section and only have the full version of Beat Saber listed there. Hope this helps!

  12. Decrease guardian sensitivity. The system triggers way to easily

I have the Rift and do not have this issue in the same room. I would like the ability to adjust the sensitivity so that the system only starts to show plus signs when I am about a foot away. I'll sign whatever wavers for risk to safety and hardware damage. This is game breaking.

Thanks for voting for this idea! With the v10 software update that rolled out earlier this month, we added support for all generations of Chromecast as well as some Chromecast built-in devices (NVIDIA SHIELD TV, Google Home Hub, and some smart TVs). If your TV has full chromecast functionality built in, it should work with Quest casting. Please review the v10 release notes for full details: https://support.oculus.com/446100332908646/

  14. Make all games to be able to stream to TV without the need for the phone.

Make the Oculus stream directly to the chromecast without the need for a phone.

Good news! As of the v10 software update which shipped earlier this month, you are now able to initiate a casting session from within your Quest headset directly to a Chromecast device. A phone is not needed for this casting flow. You can find the casting option in VR by navigating to Sharing > Cast on the menu bar. One of my primary reasons for buying the Quest is to experience live concerts and sporting events. Please make Venues available on the Quest.

There are more chromecast casting support than just chromecast gen 3 and ultra like built in tvs, gen 1&2, some players like xiaomi mi box.

  17. Fix controller tracking when close to headset so games like BoxVR work

So as you can see by the reviews on BoxVR, everyone is having tracking issues with the game. The BoxVR developers are blaming the Oculus Quest, saying that this is a hardware/oculus software problem, and that the Quest cannot gracefully handle controllers when they're held near the headset. In BoxVR, this results in the gloves getting stuck, or not registering the punches in the correct location. So if this is an Oculus Quest bug, can this please be fixed?

Thanks for submitting this idea! As part of the build 7.0 update that began to roll out yesterday, we’ve made performance improvements to better track your Touch controller movements in VR, including improved tracking when controllers are close to the headset and at angles turned away from the headset!

Full release notes can be found here: https://support.oculus.com/530422364162501/#faq_530422364162501

We hope you enjoy these improvements!

  18. Cast DIRECTLY to Chrome cast WITHOUT going thru phone

The Oculus Quest should be able to cast DIRECTLY to a Chrome Cast ultra and not have to cast to a phone first. Right now the quest sendswifi to phone then phone sends wifi to chrome cast then chrome cast sends signal to TV. OF COURSE there is a huge delay. Cut out the phone part. You don’t have to cast directly to a tv but at LEAST cast directly to chrome cast!!!

Hey everyone – I’ve noticed that some of you are submitting ideas as comments under this idea. All new ideas should be submitted as their own top level idea as that will allow other users to vote on them. I’m going to close out this idea to hopefully prevent any further ideas being submitted as comments here.

  20. Activate chromecast from Quest VR without the app

Need a way to activate chromecasting without using the mobile app directly from VR environment.

Currently to activate chromecasting requires to use the mobile app. For example if you are wearing the headset, using phone is pretty difficult. And if the app is on my mobile, then kids playing games can't activate the casting.
