Remove Mandatory Facebook Login!
Remove Mandatory Facebook login in order to accept friend requests and use the Oculus app. I have never had Facebook nor do i want it. I just want to play vr. I don’t want to have to have facebook to enjoy my 500$ Virtual Reality Headset with my friends.

Think calmly, but is there a company that wants to sell its products on a service that you don't know when users will be banned?
Linking with Facebook is also a disadvantage for game makers other than Facebook. -

I'm 30 and I never used Facebook. I grew up in the era of "don't ever use your real name online," and there's no way I'm signing up for some useless public advertising database that requires my real name and a driver's license just to play some stupid video games.
Guess I'm not your demographic. On the plus side, I can call you names and express real opinions online without losing my job and being publicly published in the court of social media over it.
Thanks for contributing to our dystopia. Enjoy the money.

At the very least "Oculus Facebook accounts" should have the option of being separate from regular Facebook accounts. For people to get auto-locked when creating new accounts and being put in the huge queue of accounts being reviewed instead of having a separate, faster support system is ridiculous.
You could even call it "Facebook Premium". Anyone who has bought an Oculus VR device automatically gets "premium" customer service, instead of being lumped in with the, what, billions of people who have free Facebook accounts.

For example, a PSN account is not required to play on the PS4; a Nintendo account is not required to play on the Nintendo Switch either.
A Facebook account is required to play Oculus quest 2.But ......Real name, correct date of birth, correct email address and phone number .......Entering these can result in a Ban with unclear criteria and the hardware you paid for can become a high-end paperweight. At least that's not the case with the PS4, Switch and Xbox, is it?

Got it as a birthday gift. Had to make a FB account to use the thing. Deleted my first FB account years ago. Pretty annoying.

I don't understand, why you just make facebook horizon a facebook account app and let people, who just play games choose, if they want to connect.
When Horizon is the new social place to be, people will choose to take part in horizon without forcing them. I thought you let Oculus be a gaming platform. With the new forced account connection the whole platform get's a bitter taste of profit making through data collecting platform.Isn't it enough to make profit through game purchases and collect maybe data through horizon for improving social community and then place advertisment there, because the app will be free to download?
It seemed to me at the facebook company are no psychologist or other competent people working, who suggested not to impose these things to customers. History showed, that imposing in the end failed and that companies with a positive image are successful since decades. In the end you will lose more customers, then when you will go the unsolicited route. Facebook, you should think about this.
Oculus image got not worse, when facebook bought them, it got worse with the recent behaviours and forced stuff!
Have a nice time and think about the love to people and not just the profit.

Having to be in fear of my accounts being banned because facebook constantly monitors and gathers info is completely unacceptable.
I'm seriously debating returning this to amazon and investing in something with no association to facebook/oculus. I purchased 2 cv1's and a rift s from oculus and had zero problems with the company before this.
For the amount of control and data they collect on us.. plus the insanely stupid ToS (you should totally read the whole thing)... They should of just given the quest 2 out for free. It's just a data gathering box that makes them money long after you paid to let them do it... Then they can turn it into a paperweight with a press of a button.
Facebook is terrible, and oculus should feel ashamed for selling us all out.

Tried making a FB account for my Quest, was immediately banned. No explanation, no customer support. I've contacted Oculus support on several occasions only to be told there's nothing they can do. What a brilliant strategy for maximizing customer base!

I recently bought the quest 2 as my first headset, I was sorely disappointed when I saw that I had to have a FB account

The day that it's required is the day I trash the Rift and buy an Index.

Will hold on to my original Quest until the login deadline. Then just sticking with Pimax, Valve, Samsung and/or whomever may be a competitor at that point.
