Remove Mandatory Facebook Login!
Remove Mandatory Facebook login in order to accept friend requests and use the Oculus app. I have never had Facebook nor do i want it. I just want to play vr. I don’t want to have to have facebook to enjoy my 500$ Virtual Reality Headset with my friends.

I bought the Quest 2 but had to return it for technical problems. I am very unhappy about this facebook requirement. I will not buy another Oculus device unless facebook is removed from the process. I use VR to escape reality. Facebook is trying to build a virtual world that is 1:1 representation of the real world which defeats the purpose. Remove facebook and I will be back otherwise I'll never return.

Honestly, this is the worst part of the Oculus system. Why would I possibly want to use a social media platform i actively avoid JUST so i could play games? really dumb decision.

This is a bad corporate decision, who will buy game on facebook knowing a ban can lead to hundred of $$$$$ of games lost and a brick vr headset... It already difficult to understand why people would buy game on a exclusive platform knowing if they change headset they loose the games! Personally i just buy my game on steamvr. If i change company headset i still be able to play my games. Let just say it is not the best time to be associate to facebook... banning people for using fake account to use there vr headset is ridiculous knowing all the political fake account on facebook. The only thing i think it promote is piracy! In a format war in witch we decide the next vr standard, conviviality will win over lock down consumer. Well, company boss are master of their own failure, the rift and quest vr headset are really good as a product, sad that it's corporate greed that dictate the development of oculus now. Who would by a tv that you have to connect to facebook to open, it make no sense... facebook should be just an app that all. Vr is bigger than one social media... Personally i hate facebook... And i don't see a point to link my facebook account to a vr headset. Now that i think of it why should a have an account for a headset from the start. Oculus should make vr headset, facebook should make social app, and steam sale games. When one company take to much space it's to the detriment of the consumer. Price on oculus market are high!!!! If oculus market where reasonable in his price and was a open market for all vr headset I would have buy my game there. But it' not... A rift s is not a console, it is just a screen and i think that linking a facebook account it's a lot to ask for using a screen as fancy it may be. Anyway What i'm really angry at is the fact that because i have decided to stick with my oculus account i will be ban from new update on my headset that i have paid for. I Think that's the scandal. "You don't want to sign no update for you!" I think that's illegal in Canada under the consumer law. Well will they listen to their consumer knowing the history of facebook I HAVE BIG DOUBT! I suppose the next step is banning steam vr from oculus, greed, greed, greed!!!!!

FB account to play games LoL what a joke.
I have several Oculus devices and now you are telling me that in two years time you are going to steal them and my software because I want no part of FB s identity hoovering service. What a Joke.
How is this legal?.
Oculus, take a good look at yourself you know this is wrong.
This situation is going to lose you a lot of money, real gamers are not going to put up with this madness for long.
Let’s hope legal action stops this sham.
Ps I cancelled my Quest 2 order because of this madness.

Just cancelled my order because I realized the required Facebook. Deleted my Facebook a long time ago and do not ever plan on making a new one. Paying extra for a Vive.

I'm an owner of a Rift and a Quest headsets. I purchased many games and apps on the oculus store for a few years now, and I loved that ecosystem.
But with the new direction the company is taking I will not spend another cent on Facebook hardware or software.
I have a good standing Facebook account, but there is no way I will link my ability to play VR games to the standing of a social media account. -

I purchased the Rift S, and was hoping to get the next Oculus device too. But if Facebook is required to login, I'll never buy another Facebook-made VR headset again. You might be happy to get sales anyway, but you're still losing revenue from all of the lost sales you won't be getting - and instead that money will go to your competitors. I'm sad you're choosing to go this route and hope you'll change your decision.

Think calmly, but is there a company that wants to sell its products on a service that you don't know when users will be banned?
Linking with Facebook is also a disadvantage for game makers other than Facebook. -

I'm 30 and I never used Facebook. I grew up in the era of "don't ever use your real name online," and there's no way I'm signing up for some useless public advertising database that requires my real name and a driver's license just to play some stupid video games.
Guess I'm not your demographic. On the plus side, I can call you names and express real opinions online without losing my job and being publicly published in the court of social media over it.
Thanks for contributing to our dystopia. Enjoy the money.

At the very least "Oculus Facebook accounts" should have the option of being separate from regular Facebook accounts. For people to get auto-locked when creating new accounts and being put in the huge queue of accounts being reviewed instead of having a separate, faster support system is ridiculous.
You could even call it "Facebook Premium". Anyone who has bought an Oculus VR device automatically gets "premium" customer service, instead of being lumped in with the, what, billions of people who have free Facebook accounts.

For example, a PSN account is not required to play on the PS4; a Nintendo account is not required to play on the Nintendo Switch either.
A Facebook account is required to play Oculus quest 2.But ......Real name, correct date of birth, correct email address and phone number .......Entering these can result in a Ban with unclear criteria and the hardware you paid for can become a high-end paperweight. At least that's not the case with the PS4, Switch and Xbox, is it?

Got it as a birthday gift. Had to make a FB account to use the thing. Deleted my first FB account years ago. Pretty annoying.

I don't understand, why you just make facebook horizon a facebook account app and let people, who just play games choose, if they want to connect.
When Horizon is the new social place to be, people will choose to take part in horizon without forcing them. I thought you let Oculus be a gaming platform. With the new forced account connection the whole platform get's a bitter taste of profit making through data collecting platform.Isn't it enough to make profit through game purchases and collect maybe data through horizon for improving social community and then place advertisment there, because the app will be free to download?
It seemed to me at the facebook company are no psychologist or other competent people working, who suggested not to impose these things to customers. History showed, that imposing in the end failed and that companies with a positive image are successful since decades. In the end you will lose more customers, then when you will go the unsolicited route. Facebook, you should think about this.
Oculus image got not worse, when facebook bought them, it got worse with the recent behaviours and forced stuff!
Have a nice time and think about the love to people and not just the profit.

Having to be in fear of my accounts being banned because facebook constantly monitors and gathers info is completely unacceptable.
I'm seriously debating returning this to amazon and investing in something with no association to facebook/oculus. I purchased 2 cv1's and a rift s from oculus and had zero problems with the company before this.
For the amount of control and data they collect on us.. plus the insanely stupid ToS (you should totally read the whole thing)... They should of just given the quest 2 out for free. It's just a data gathering box that makes them money long after you paid to let them do it... Then they can turn it into a paperweight with a press of a button.
Facebook is terrible, and oculus should feel ashamed for selling us all out.
