Remove Mandatory Facebook Login!
Remove Mandatory Facebook login in order to accept friend requests and use the Oculus app. I have never had Facebook nor do i want it. I just want to play vr. I don’t want to have to have facebook to enjoy my 500$ Virtual Reality Headset with my friends.
Mine is already a paperweight, will not be spending another second or dime until they announce they will not require facebook logins. Already told 2 people this week looking at vr look elsewhere.
If they go through with this, I can't wait to have a $400 paper weight.
I'd rather not they have access to what equates to a camera in my room, while also collecting all my data and using it to target potential ads IN A $400 HEADSET.
If anyone starts a class-action suit can they tell me? kthxbye

I'd rather have it COMPLETELY optional, but having it being mandatory? No dice, I'm starting to think that buying a quest was a mistake.
Its a bad move, i too will be refunding the games i purchased through them if they don't work. Luckily Steam works very well with Oculus and most of my purchases have been through that plus, I can connect to friends through that.
This move by Oculus/Facebook should be illegal since they sold me a device on false pretenses. Very upset and the response from customer support proves they don't care about their customers even a little.
Absolutely ridiculous. Everyday theres another reason to hate Facebook. The day I have to link a FB account is the last day I use my $$$$ Oculus.

It's a predator move to force numbers on your failing social network platform Facebook will fade while oculus will remain if your smart Facebook you will keep em sepparate.
If they move forward with this I will be pursuing a refund on my purchases. At the very least I will spend my free time clogging up their support lines.

This was to be expected, such predatory fb behaviour. Disgusting. It was nice while it lasted, but RIP Oculus .
And now it gets even worse. Glad to see they're "listening" to their customers.
I only even have a FB account because I have to for certain business purposes. Otherwise I want absolutely nothing to do with social media, at all, ever. I am literally refusing to use features of my expensive device because of this idiotic requirement. Now a good friend of mine has bought one too (you're welcome FB) and I know he's going to want to connect once he gets it, and so do I. But we both hate FB and now we're going to have no choice but to connect through it. Horrible, and makes me want to use a different company's device as soon as there is a reasonable wireless alternative.
Requiring this is absurd, especially since I can't even get an account created. Says "your account is disabled" yet I have never signed up for a farcebook account before! How can a new account I am trying to create with an entirely new email address I just created be disabled?
Completely idiotic to have this be a requirement for us Quest owners to actually fully use the features of our headset we paid for.
It also feels like a borderline lawsuit. As someone that preordered this last year, I wouldn't have bought this if this was there from the start or if they had said it would eventually be required for the friend/social aspect. Doubt I am the only one.

I deleted my FB account years ago. I don't intend to ever make a new one. Please fix this nonsense.
We could all just use the Facebook account of a family member or friend (assuming the family member or friend will allow us to). As an added bonus, doing this will ***** over the Facebook data collection metrics. I feel pretty screwed given this requirement, so let's dish it back!

You never used to have to do this with the rift. This is a vile add on that is making me just want to sell my headsets. I'd rather save up for a Valve Index than have to deal with fb. Scummy system.
Remove mandatory Facebook login!
When I purchased the Oculus Quest NOWHERE on the box does it say Facebook required for use of the Quests social features.
This is predatory behavior and I believe illegal?!
I cannot and WILL NOT recommend any Oculus products until this is changed.
I should not have to link my personal social media account, especially Facebook which has a poor track record of maintaining user data!
You cannot even begin to understand the brand damage that is happening here, I see absolutely NO reason Facebook should be linked with my Oculus account.
You want fiercely loyal customers? Then stop this nonsense at once!

Can stress how frustrating it is to be locked out of looking at my own media recorded on my quest. Let alone accepting friend requests.

I totally agree. I've deleted my facebook account years ago and I will absolutely not create a new one (making a fake one is also almost impossible)
I would rather pay an extra fee for an online function (like nintendo does)
