Install a VPN !
Facebook please stand by your public statement for privacy and security ! Why will you not allow any VPN to be installed on the oculus quest? A VPN is required for privacy and security reasons to protect oneself from most attacks when connected to the internet! You are stopping us from protecting ourselves from any attacks on the internet! We need VPN in China, c'mon!!!!!
Please allow VPN apps. My security is paramount and I expect standard measures to be available.
we need to use shadowsocks in china, but it can not work now....
Supporting VPN clients on the Quest is important, because VPNs help us with freedom and anonymity, which are two important pillars of the internet and democracy.
Yes it shound be there
@ Johan Malmste. VPN is not that resource intensive as you assume it to be. Infact routers have only a few MB of ram and very little CPU resources compared to a phone and they are still able to run a VPN.
Quest has a snap dragon 835 which is plenty powerful. Even low end phones can run OpenVPN.
Facebook intentionally disabled VPN from the Android Source code for some reason and a lot of people can guess what the reason is from facebooks history as shown on news channels and media

A workaround would be to put the vpn client on the router that you connect to.
Also, vpn processing is kind of intensive on cpus so that's probably one of the reasons why the quest don't yet have it. But if you connect to hotspots and routers that takes care of the vpn stuff you should be as hidden as if it was running on the quest itself.
Take care though... I'm writing this with no large scale government surveillance over me... As far as I know... So I am by no means an expert.
Need VPN especially for expat who live in China !!!
