Improve the lens and strap quality and 'Oculus' brand value as a whole
A general feedback on Oculus Quest 2 and improvements required not only in the headset, but 'Oculus' brand as a whole:
Many folks on the Internet were / are having issues with Oculus Quest 2 lenses. It seems a huge batch of production came out to be faulty / incorrectly calibrated lenses. Was proper QA not in place?
This is making the center view (sweet spot) too small and increasing god rays when head is tilted...more prominent on contrast backgrounds and text. Even if a video is 12k or 16k, due to the poor lens quality itself, the view is never clear and hence always blurry.
The quality of the lenses (and thereby the sweet spot area) needs to be improved. The faulty units that have been dispatched around the globe in many countries must be replaced with the corrected ones. Many people have their 4th or 5th replaced unit completely free from issues but it's not possible in those countries where Oculus does not sell the devices. Mostly they are getting refunded (and you are losing customers) as additional replacement units are not in stock.
The headset strap quality and comfort can be improved. The default strap is not comfortable and can be made more 'curvy' or flexible, maybe with some idea from other good VR headsets.
A basic accessory like a good link cable to connect to the PC must be included in the box. Do not let consumers put in more money just to buy the cables separately. Thanks for including the charger though!
Please increase your support in countries other than US, UK so more customers can be targeted and they can enjoy VR at cheaper cost. Right now, the whole Quest 2 launch seems to target US market only. As proper service centers are not present in the countries where the headsets are sold via reputed sellers like Amazon, there is no easy way for the customers to return the faulty units directly to Oculus for analysis.
If anything (hardware issue) happens to the headset after Amazon replacement date is closed, where would the customers go?
There is no doubt that VR brings endless possibilities with it and the concept is really amazing but with its current state, it still feels in 'development'. The technology has not matured yet it seems. Maybe in the next version of Quest you can fix all of these issues, QA can be improved, global support can be provided so that more consumers around the globe (and not only US) can enjoy VR with an improved viewer quality and truly an immersive experience.
Thank you.
