Simplified menu and more interactive home environments - linked to Virtual Desktop
I am an experienced IT professional with many years experience navigating menus. When you give someone a quest, their first problem is finding the application they want to run. The menus are poorly created and common to all home environments. They do not integrate into the home environments at all.
It would be great if the home environment contained the games library selection menu - imagine a TV that you turn a knob to change the channel to select a different game, or a portal window that you manipulate to select the game (portal) you wish to jump to.
Other menu options could also be incorporated into the home environment. I noticed the Virtual Desktop home environment had a mirror that you could look at to change your avatar icon.
Also there are too many home environments (including Virtual Desktop and link ones) and there is no easy way to know which menu you are in or how to jump from one to another.
The home environment is the first thing people see and it should act like the excellent "First Contact" app and show people how the interface works and how to interact with objects. I would like to see a drawing board with crayons, the Move application data on the wall with my hand drawn targets, direct point and manipulate the guardian, a volume control in the room (part of the TV or radio), sure put some adds on a billboard to advertise new or recommended games (but make it fit into the scene, not just on a panel that appears in mid air).
The objective should be to have all the functionality of the static menus, but incorporated in objects around the room.
While a fancy space station or future apartment are cool, I would like to see objects in the home environment actually work and actually be part of the configuration of the system.
