Allow Forced Party Chat In-game
As soon as you enter some games that use the microphone the oculus party chat no longer works, which means communicating with your friends to try and join the same lobby is impossible unless you have a phone nearby with their personal details to contact them.
This is a basic function on literally every other new gen console now, and with VR it should be no different.

Voice command don't work either if a game takes over the mic.

This is indeed infuriating. We are forced to use our phones to coordinate joining pretty much any game and it's a huge hassle, especially in VR where it's bothersome to fiddle with your phone with your headset on. There should be an option to force party chat and disable game microphone and ideally a quick way to toggle that option. Me and my brother were absolutely appalled when seeing the state of the party and voice chat system, coming from Xbox where it has worked perfectly since the dawn of time. I would have expected a social company like Facebook to know how to make a proper party experience! I think the Quest really needs this to offer a true "console" experience.

its actually shameful that this isnt a launch feature sinec xbox has had it since 2008 and sony as well?? doesnt make any sense..... convinced 3 other people to get it all of us are refunding them tommorow because whats the point if you cant play with your friends? your forced to use ingame chat for every game which is just pure and utter cancer.

A friend talked me into getting the Quest 2 for social reasons, but when we tried playing for a few evenings, we encountered this issue. That is basically the only reason I got it over the Rift S. This needs to be a feature on the Quest 2, otherwise there is no reason to recommend it to my friends. The way it works today is not a feature, it is a bug.

But nobody would be talking in game and it would take away the social aspect in general. As a PC player who used to use Xbox... I love that PC games people are in game chat all the time compared to Xbox where nobody talks or can even hear you because of party. Perhaps party chat working at the same time as game chat like PC would be best.

My friends and I rarely play some games now just because forced game chat takes away the casual and social aspect of the quest. Forced game chat can just make the initial set up of a game a hassle and sometimes you don’t want everyone else in the game hearing what your talking about.

PLEASE FIX THIS!!! It makes it so hard to have friends join games and explain to them where I am in the game

PLEASE fix this! All of my family now have Quest’s and in every game we have microphone issues. It’s absolutely absurd.

Please please please. We can't play with our friends because of this. This was a major reason for us for buying an Oculus.

Agreed. Hard to take the Quest seriously when it lacks a basic social feature Xbox has had since like 2007. I was originally recommending my friends get Quests so we can play together, but after a few weeks of putting up with Oculus' broken party system, I ended up letting them all know not to waste their money.

This is such a basic thing on other consoles and seriously needs to be addressed.

Fix when?

I do hope they fix this issue asap. It's partly a dev problem but it shouldn't be that hard to give party chat the highest level of importance. I lose at least 20minutes a day when trying to talk with my friends ingame, it's incredibly frustrating

I assumed this was standard, I can't believe it's not already here on the platform.

Make a system like xbox or playstation where you can go inbetween game chat and party chat.
