Bring Oculus Gallery to Quest2
On Quest1 there is a native Gallery app to view photos/videos. On Quest2 this app is missing and personal media can only be viewed through Oculus TV. The issue is with a large amount of files, OculusTV is impractical to use because you must scroll to the right to find files. Gallery allowed media to be grouped by directories. Files can be sorted in different ways with thumbnail and list view. For users with hundreds of photos and videos please either bring us Gallery or integrate the folder grouping and file sorting features into Oculus TV.
Looking at 360 vids and photos from our holidays was one of the best things to use the Quest for, especially now we can’t go anywhere. I bought the 256GB Quest 2 to store more on my headset than I could on my original Quest only to find the Gallery app is not there. There’s some mention of using the TV app in the future- not OK, but don’t remove one until the other one is ready.
What concerns me is how this TV app will work. Will it only be through streaming? Gallery allowed us to store files locally and not have to stream them from a NAS or YouTube or wherever. The quality is far better played locally and can be viewed offline and, most importantly, shown to friends and family without the need for being connected. Is Facebook not being able to know what we’re looking at part of the reason for the removal? If so, this is another nail in the coffin.
Please listen to your customers and enable Gallery for the Quest 2.
The loss of my ability to access DropBox as a means to transfer and view 360 and 180 images is devastating! I have been very pleased with the Quest 2 overall but the loss of the Oculus Gallery App has greatly diminished my enthusiasm since it was such a vital part of my work in VR. Please, please reconsider your choice to lock out our ability to view files via Dropbox, or create your own Cloud-based application that allows us to access files for viewing on the Quest 2!
I was flabbergasted to find that the Oculus Gallery app disappeared. It's already hard enough to view/share panoramic photos - Oculus TV is a terrible replacement as it doesn't link with shared services (Google Photos) or support Galleries/Folders. Why was it removed? Please just allow it to be downloaded, or even sideloaded.
Want Oculus Gallery BACK!!

Absolutely can't believe there is no app that I can view my pictures on. I have a few thousand pictures taken on my 360 Camera that work totally fine when I plug my cell phone into the Gear VR headset. Its absolutely ridiculous that I can't view any of these on the Quest 2, even if I copy the files directly onto the device.
What the eff were these idiots thinking?
"Oh, Jeffery, let's get rid of random **** people love, we can save money that way"
Jeffery: "OMG THATS BRILLIANT"
I wouldn't have bought the Quest 2 if I had known you got rid of Gallery. I just wanted a higher resolution Go that didn't overheat while viewing my 3D and 180VR photos and videos from my DLNA server, but instead I ended up with nice hardware that does nothing I want. Bring back Gallery! (And please add MPO support!)
I really expected to work my 360 degree videos in google photo with oculus gallery in new one quest2.
now its bad move what you terminated oculus gallery.

Who's idea at Oculus was this?? We use Gallery a lot. How can you not see that? Huge disappointment for the new product.
I really sad. why must I find one photo from4000photos from list?
we need viewing floder. and sorting names. date. like a oculus garally.
No 1st party DLNA support is such a disappointment. I wonder who are making these annoying changes - have you consulted the users beforehand? On Go and Quest 1, I use other players too but somehow Oculus Gallery seems to produce better video quality than the others, With Quest 2 I have no choice but to use the 3rd party players and the quality does not give justice to the higher resolution lenses.
With Oculus TV, what day of age are we living in now, when an app does not offer a search function???
I haven't transferred my pictures and videos to my Quest 2 yet (I'm having a hardware issue - the left controller does not appear in VR, but it is connected and shows 100% battery), but I did just go looking for the Gallery app, and to hear that it is not on the Quest 2, and that the TV app is not as user friendly, is another reason why I regret buying the Quest 2. (see: aforementioned controller issue, also tinny sound from speakers, black level way higher because no OLED). I'm going to start leaving some VERY bad reviews.
Also there is no DLNA support in the App
