Passthrough Mode with Guardian Turned Off
Like many developers, using the guardian can be cumbersome when switching between my desk and headset, so i utilize the option that lets you turn the guardian off. However, that seems to disable the passthrough mode, either double tap or the passthrough environment. Passthrough should be able to be turned on with the guardian turned off, because then instead of being totally blind, theres almost a middle-ground.

Won't let me vote, but +1 for this.

Frustrating that I can't vote - this contradiction is the only thing standing in the way of using the home app as an AR workspace. If Meta is serious about the idea of this not just being a toy but being a revolution of the ways we work, then it's a shame they're keeping up this artificial limit that stands directly in the way of that goal. I understand that we can technically do this in Unity but man, no one needs ANOTHER dedicated workspace/screen-sharing/media app

Other people have already said this, for quite a while now it looks like. But being able to toggle into passthrough is even more important with the guardian disabled. So I'd be curious to know the logic behind why that's the only time you can't use it.

This. The fact that you can't use both at the same time is just plain dumb!

I have seen an option in experimental features called "skip guardian setup when passthrough home is on" but cannot find mention of it anywhere or find out what update it came on (has to be v32 or before)
When clicked on. If you turn on the passthrough home environment, it turns off your guardian until you enter a virtual environment or game. Does anyone know anything about this??? Here's a screenshot -

I have no need for a guardian. I use a rug on my floor with a 2-3 foot margin from the walls so that all I need to do is keep my feet on the rug. This is infinitely better than having to redraw my guardian every time my quest 2 forgets it, which is all the time. No more interruptions in the middle of a game when my headset gets confused and randomly thinks I've left my boundary for 5 seconds. Much shorter time to boot up and get into a game as well when I don't have to confirm my boundary. I just wish I could still use double tap to passthrough for when I need to leave the rug.

Please and thank you!! I can't tell you how annoying it is that screen just blacks out with the guardian even if I just move out of it to say go grab something that's just out of the boundary that's set. Yes I can try to increase the size but it just adds a hassle if quest keeps forgetting what I set to when turning it off/on.

I would very much like to be able to walk across vast environments while keeping my headset on.
I've been 3d printing cool helmet designs that hold VR headsets in them for a few years now. I'd love to go to the next E3 with my Quest 2 integrated helmet and enjoy the entire event throw the eyes of my Quest 2. -
