Make cloud saves mandatory to ensure save data is not lost when performing a factory reset
My understanding is that cloud save functionality is available, but most developers choose not to use it.
It should be part of the Oculus approval process for games to ensure data is not lost if the Quest unit requires a factory reset, breaks or is lost/stolen.
This is something that is seen as the norm for other ‘consoles’ so should be the standard if aiming for VR to be mainstream.
Backing up with usb over developer mode is not a good enough solution for the majority as it requires manual backups.
I was considering buying a Q2, but not after my Q1 bricked (from an update no less), and because I assumed this functionality was very basic by now, had no idea that everything was gone if I had to do a factory reset. Definitely not buying anymore oculus hardware until this is resolved. On my way to go warn my friends that I recommended oculus to as well.
Switched from quest 1 to quest 2 and none of my progress saved… please fix this issue soon

I had to rma my Quest and probably going to lose my saints and sinners progress now. We need cloud saves!
Walking dead Saints and sinners wasn’t working so I had to uninstall and then reinstall it and it worked fine but then when I got into the game all of my progress was lost and I beat the game three times

This should be done on an account level and not rely on the developers to implement the API as it hasn't worked so far. That would make it a system sync process when a connection is available and the Quest is in standby.

Add mandatory cloud saves now. When I move to a quest 3 my progress better come or I will switch companies for my next vr headset.

Literally the most common fix for all problems is to do a factory reset, which wouldn't be a problem if you wouldn't lose all your game progress once you do it. I have no idea how Oculus says they are keeping their store clean of "low-quality" games, but still haven't made cloud saves mandatory.
Facebook can't even get their own captive studio to implement this into Beat Saber. Don't hold your breath.

I just went to read the API documentation on how to take advantage of the cloud save system, and it appears to be trivial. It's bizarre that many Quest games don't take advantage of this.
Devs: C'mon man, raise your game!
Oculus: This is a very reasonable requirement for new games before they can be added to the store.

Considering the main "fix" for everything is to do a factory reset - you'd assume the saves would be safe in the cloud. Not really fun when you have to restart the WHOLE game because you were told to factory reset your headset to fix things.

This is very important, users need to uninstall some games that not playing at the moment (when it reach not enough space) to install new game. If the game progress lost after uninstall then the user would not going uninstall the games and have not enough space for new games, would not buying anymore apps from the store. The developers and Oculus would not get any sale when this happen. Quest 2 with 64GB users will face this issue very soon and no more apps sold to them. I'm now have to limit my purchase because I'm nearly not enough space to install anymore.
I don't really like the idea because it would require a lot of uploading while being worn. I like to take off the headset while downloading or uploading to reduce headaches.

Strongly agree here. I've had to do several factory resets to fix issues, and inevitably lose some save games (some can be backed up manually, but others can't at all). This is both disheartening and frustrating, which are obviously not feelings you want associated with your platform. Simply mandate the use or option for cloud saves (obviously still want to support off-line play), and then prompt users to sync next time the game is launched, with choice of what's in the cloud, or what's stored locally.
I don't know how many negative reviews I've read on apps that lose their game progress and people have to start from scratch. Both Oculus and App Dev's should already be implementing this...

This is also very important for users of the 64gb version, who will undoubtedly start having to uninstall and reinstall games to make space as they buy more. If their saves aren't being backed up, they won't want to uninstall older games to make room for newer ones if it means losing their progress.

This should work like it does on iOS, the quest app data should be backed up at an operating system level, so that it can be restored after factor my reset and migrated to new devices.

I didn't think about this at the beginning, but now that I switched from Q1 to Q2, all my saves are gone. This is a basic feature needed at system level imho, not at developer level.
