The Insta360 App should not have been rejected on the Oculus Quest.
I am a 360 and 180 video and photo enthusiast. I recently purchased an Insta360 Evo camera and was very disappointed to find that the Insta360 App is not available on the Oculus Quest, but it is available on the Oculus Go.
The Insta360 App allows photos and videos to be viewed and uploaded wirelessly between camera and the Oculus Go headset.
See the following in depth YouTube video to see this...
This App gives immediately feedback on what you have photographed.
I wrote to Insta360 and they told me that Oculus declined to give permission for the App to be in the Quest App Store. They hinted that this is on the grounds that the Go is more for media consumption and the Quest is about gaming.
I was a Go owner but I upgraded to the Quest and as a result of this I am now disappointed.
So Oculus please reconsider your policy for photography and video on the Quest.
Oculus’ App curation policies are appraised here...

this is crazy from Oculus, cannot you see that every one purchased the Quest would like to use it with his VR camera, they are pushing everyone to sideload the app instead of just allowing the app to access the camera.
I did not read any comments from Oculus on this subject,,, we all are waiting for their resolution...
This decision doens't make sense. Oculus now has a great piece of hardware and now you are hindering yourself to make it an outstanding success by your stupid marketing policies??!
This is plain stupid, surely the device should be allowed to perform multiple functions. If not why is there a web browser, media player etc on the device as standard!
Please reconsider and approve!
I am disappointed that the insta360 app is not supported by Ocuclus quest.

I am extremely disappointed that the Quest doesn’t support the Insta360 app - please rectify that right away! When I was shopping for a VR headset to view my 3D photos and videos this past summer, I never saw any marketing materials from Oculus that said the Go would be better for viewing my own media. Everything I read and heard gave me the impression that the Quest was an updated and superior version of the Go, so that’s what I bought. It turned out to be useless for viewing non-VR 3D photos, and very cumbersome and underwhelming for watching non-VR 3D videos, so I thought getting a 3D VR camera would help me get the most out of my Quest. So my wife gave me an Insta360 Evo for Christmas, and I’ve been very excited to view my own VR 3D videos, only to find out that Oculus deliberately made the Quest unable to upload the videos for no good reason other than perhaps to try to strongarm me into buying a Go (which ain’t gonna happen). I feel ripped off and angry about it, and I hope Oculus will come to its senses and fix this soon.
I second this and am in the market for a VR headset that can game but also for recreational travel videography... now finding out that the quest cannot use my own footage that severely deters me

WHAT?! The #1 VR Headset isn't compatible with #1 VR CAMERA? S T U P I D!!!!!!!!!!
That's one of the main reason why I purchased an Oculus Quest. Please allow this application to reach the Oculus Store !

My Rift (3yrs old) was giving me hardware failure error (which I fixed myself by replacing a part with used part from eBay - Oculus said warranty is expired and will not fix), and now sensor is failing, I was looking into buying Quest thinking I can use with Insta360 Evo.
Not sure why the app was blocked.... Especially Oculus is owned by Facebook and Facebook offers their own video channel... I don't get it. Unless it's technically impossible... It appears you can sell more Quest by having the app available.... I'll just replace my sensor and save money until Quest enables the app for Insta360 Evo app. I'll just use Gear VR mean time - there goes my cell phone battery life...

I just purchased the Evo and Oculus Quest as well. I'm a live event videographer and this would have mad a perfect pair. Now what do I do?

i'm wondering if the Insta360 VR apps for Oculus Go are 32-bit? I lead development teams and was reviewing the developer specs for Oculus Quest apps and they recently require all new app submissions to be 64-bit. I think the onus is on Insta360 to update their apps!
I have bought Oculus Quest and I have insta360 EVO. That is totally not reasonable that the apps does not exist in Quest store as it is supposed that Quest is a better version of VR for Oculus.
I am really disappointed about that strategy on Quest. Please let the apps put on Quest store.

Please have Insta360 App on Quest store ASAP.
I had an Oculus Go and was using it with an EVO to develop content for a 180° VR app - thought the Quest would give me better resolution and more accurate color, but hey, a simple port of the Insta360 app isn’t available on the Quest. Looks like I’ll sell it and pick up an HTC Vive Focus.
That’s one less Quest sale - which probably doesn’t matter to Oculus - but I won’t be buying any games on the Oculus platform since I’m not going back to the Go. It’s a shame, because otherwise the Quest is a really nice kit.
need insta 360 evo app. on quest. why? block app?
One more Oculus Quest buyer disappointed here.
Also bought an Insta360 Evo. I am sorry to see a bad bet on Oculus due to some "illuminated" marketing director. I don't believe on crippling devices to make customers buy whatever he wants at whatever prices he controls. That's a company killing strategy on the long run that will not deserve my trust on the company.
Missing also Google Earth, probably the same reason.

Me too I bought the quest to work on it with 360 media and now that I know this I might sell my quest and probably go with the go and is cheaper! I prefer if Oculus reconsider and approve the app for people who is shooting 360 video.
I’d like to know why this app was not approved for oculus quest store? If there is a really good reason insta360 team should surely work on it to get that fixed. Please, Oculus team can you tell me what’s the reason for rejection? If no reason, please try pass this soon. Thank you very much!
This is what is happen when “big boys” take control... I was oculus supporter from first days of developing . Bought Quest for same reasons as many a bit gaming and 360 video. It look like perfect match with Insta360. Really disapointed with this “corporate” approach...
I just bought the Quest because I beside the impressive games believed it would be simple and easy to use it with Insta360 One X. Since I know the Insta360VR App is available for the GO I am wondering ... So I wrote to the Oculus support and within minutes I got this answer below. And they are pointing back to the developers ...
Thank you for reaching out to Oculus Support, I would be happy to help you out with your inquirer regarding Insta360VR.
For now the only information I have on Insta360VR is that it is only available on the go. Our blog will update with any news of Go games coming to the quest. You can find our blog by clicking here.
You can also contact the developer of the game to see if they are planning on bringing Insta360VR to the Oculus Quest.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
