Decrease guardian sensitivity. The system triggers way to easily
I have the Rift and do not have this issue in the same room. I would like the ability to adjust the sensitivity so that the system only starts to show plus signs when I am about a foot away. I'll sign whatever wavers for risk to safety and hardware damage. This is game breaking.

Thanks for providing and voting for this submission. As part of the v7.0 update, you now have the ability to adjust your Guardian sensitivity settings. While in VR, head to Settings > See All > Guardian to adjust your Guardian sensitivity. We hope you enjoy these new options!

You could always turn on developer mode in the app and then turn off the guardian in the headset under developer.

I can get my guardian to come up while having my fully extended arm 3 feet away just but making a sudden movement toward it (ie playing beat saber)

This is really the top issue for me. Any fast-hand moving game like BoxVR or Beat Saber, and every movement causes the guardian to come up which is hella distracting because it makes me think I'm going to hit the wall when really I'm still a good half meter away from it.
Making the guardian larger than the play area is NOT an option when there's walls to hit and things to knock over.... PLease remove (or vastly de-tune) the fast-hand-movement guardian appearance, I don't need it to appear unti I'm close to it.

I found a way to walk around this is to draw a bigger Guardian size.
