Phone interactions in VR
My phone is linked with bluetooth already, it should be able to forward my notifications to some virtual display. Let me answer a call, quickreply a message or even see my whole phone screen and use my touch controllers as fingers for interacting with my phone. I'd love to be able to play Hearthstone or Clash Royale on a virtual screen!

Please allow phone interactions in VR is the biggest limitation from being able to stay in VR for any length of time. Most cannot just simply be unplugged from their phone for hours. This is imperative for productivity and work apps where the business phone needs consistent interaction
Would love to answer calls and see texts while playing!

Great request, I have a medical condition, with an implanted sensor, that sends data to my phone and sometimes causes alarms and notifications while I'm in VR. It would be really usefull to see those notifications to evaluate the severity and delete the notification and with that the Alarm if it's unimportant.
This requested was started over a year ago, anyone have an update if the developers are even working on it?

this would be great. just text notifications and ability to answer calls would be amazing
I don't really care to play cell phone games via VR. However, being able to take a call or check my messages with another interface would be nice. I wouldn't have to take everything off just to know something unimportant.
Cell games... Just take the stuff off and play those.
OVR toolkit is the solution. Get its functionality ported over and everything being asked for already exists.

If apple carplay and smart watches work constant notification on your wrist when you flip it should be easy

I came here just wanting to suggest the notification portion, but after reading this, yes, yes, all of this, please! This would also help when I'm trying to set up the casting for parties instead of having to tell someone, 'ok, now, do you see the confirmation question on my phone? No? Ok, check if the phone is on the same sub-network, yes, I know it's all one network, but the headset cares which segment of the network you talk to it through for some things and not for others.' I could just do it myself from within the headset that is already paired to the phone.
the clash royale apk works if you sideload it. you'd have to have your clash account linked with supercell though.
This feature request is very broad, but is the highest vote count for being able to see notifications. Pass through of notifications, or even an API to send notifications using something external so someone else can build the app, either would be fantastic.
Heck, with a simple API it could even be done with Tasker.

As a Vive Pro user, i can already receive call, text-messages and calender reminders natively. But for all those other push notifications there's a program called Zephyr which does alot of the things requested in the comments. Sadly i don't think that it can mirror your phone screen and i think that doing just that, actually requires more software-inginuity than you'd imagine.
Anyway, for those interested, here's a link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4p27c3/zephyr_mirror_android_notifications_to_vr/
I wish all you happy people a fine day! ;)

This should really be an option, at least simple notifications like you get on a smart watch

This would also allow users to run discord if it could use the bluetooth connection to transfer mic data out of the quest and audio data into the headset!
Yes. At least give the same hands free features that automobiles support.

It would also be good to have this feature to work with the IPhone and not just android. I can’t stand Samsung or other Android phones, probably cause I’m used to iPhone, but it would still be nice to receive and respond to notifications on the quest without taking the headset off to even see the phone. It’s just too much work.

As a quick note, you can sideload Apps like Hearthstone and Clash Royale and play them in the Oculus TV App. But I'm 100% with you with the other stuff. It would be helpful to be able to get notifications and calls while I'm in the headset. It would also be helpful to be able to view my phone's screen occasionally for things like getting a code or linking an App to my account.

Yes please it should be just like when I driving my car, and get phone call, and text messages. I can do all that take calls, replay to text messages while I drive my car with the cars bluetooth , we should be able to do this some how while were in VR, please help all of us achieve this , give us a software update , please. i use my VR at work and it's a pain to come out of VR every time i get a text or a call, perhaps a software update, or a App for us to download ? PLEASE

Reverse casting for the win!
Absolutely. This shouldn't be hard to manage at all. We can already cast out oculus screen to our phone. All it would take is "reverse casting" from the phone to the headset, and a virtual phone sitting there in the home space.
