Family Sharing
Several other platforms like Steam, PlayStation, etc. offer family sharing for multiple users in the same household. The same game can’t be played at the same time across multiple accounts or devices, but can be shared within a household in the same way that physical media works.

WTH, why isn't Oculus responding?

We just bought three as a family to play since my daughter is special needs and loves vr so this just stinks that we can’t play as a family. I can’t afford three games of the same kind.. I had enough to get the headsets for my family..and get a few games but I can’t buy two more of the same kind...

Yikes, so I bought a Quest 2 on launch day and I've loved it so much that I want my kids to have their own for Christmas this year. I have 3 kids that don't live with me so I purchased 3 headsets literally yesterday at a local Best Buy. I did this because in the game details it clearly says "Family Sharing" which, on literally every other gaming platform that has a family plan/share, means you buy the game once and you can use it for other people within your family. Tonight I was going to start setting up the headsets and installing games but I couldn't for the life of my locate a way to add family members to my account. Which lead me to this post. If it's really true that there's no Family Sharing and if Oculus isn't going to comment on it, that's 3 headsets for $1200.00+ USD that are getting returned and I know that I'm not the only one that'll be doing the same. This is just really, really bad wording and honestly feels like a bait & switch tactic to me. Oculus, if it's something you're going to spring on us before Christmas, you need to announce it ASAP because we are out here shopping.

Alot of people myself included are in the same boat, i love playing games with the kids this way, but it does double the cost of the games having to buy two copies of each.
Personally i still think its worth it, but that said i don't buy as many games as i used to when we only had one Quest, we definitely get more out of each game now, plus i choose not to purchase the most expensive games, we have a limit of £20.
I think Oculus/Facebook should take this into account and at least find a way to give 50% off of the 2nd copy as I am reluctant to spend double the money compared to when we only had a single Quest.

I bought 2 units for my daughters for Christmas. Hearing this news is so disappointing, I plan to return one and just make the other a family gift. This is my first venture into VR and I’m beyond disappointed to hear I’d have to purchase the game twice for each unit in order to play together. Awful.

I am trying to figure this out - One of my kids made an account and bought a game (Job Simulator). My other son linked his VR set to the first account. They can both play the same game at the same time (not with each other). We only bought the game once. I am not sure if this will work with multi player games because they are both on the same account. Maybe that is the key - one account with multiple headsets.

This is a bummer. I was between this and PS VR but not being able to share is not an option. I hope they fix this because I would love to try it. It seems so sad that they want it to be isolating instead of encouraging families to get multiple sets and play together.

I add my voice to all the 2432 voices to update the oculus to allow family sharing. I bought 4 for Xmas presents but I can’t afford to buy four of the same game. Ridiculous!

Just bought three Quest 2 device with the intent of giving them to my kids for Christmas. Not having a family share option is a deal breaker which is too bad. Really like the device and the games... but the foreseeable pain of having to buy the same game numerous times and setting them up on the kids devices isn't worth it.
Add a local area option for goodness sake.

The walkabout mini golf game can be shared between two or more Quest headsets & can play together even if both headsets are using the same oculus/Facebook login. You only pay once for the game also. I’ve even added a third free player via a Rift headset- again a free download & same oculus account. It’s a fun game to play with adults & kids.

My boyfriend and i have 2 headsets. We don't want to buy games twice...it is very weird that there is no option to share apps with your family in the household....

I want to buy 4 quest 2's but without family sharing Ican't justify the expense of quadrupling the cost of the games. 1,500.00 dollars of sales lost right the there.

Bought one quest 2, liked it so much, that we bought two more for the household... now I find out I need to buy 3 different copies of the SAME game, for us to all play together? That makes this SUPER expensive, even beyond the $1,200+ we already sunk into the hardware alone? Why can we not just buy the game once and all 3 enjoy it? We're all physically in the same house together... shouldn't it be able to tell the distance apart due to location services?

This is how you normalize and bring VR to the forefront of technology. We by multiple devices and you allow us to create family accounts to use with children and mates.. this is an easy win for customers and your company

As already mentioned, I’ve spent a lot of money on games and would like to get 3 more headsets so everyone in the family can play together, but there is absolutely no way Im buying the same game 4 times.

I bought the Quest 2, to be able to play local multiplayer with my wife, I using PCVR and she the Quest 2 ... but it is unthinkable that I have to buy every game twice! The success of the Wii was family multiplayer, in VR you can't split the screen so it must be possible to play the same game in local multiplayer on multiple devices.

This isn't true of all games. Here is a list of apps and whether or not they could be played on same account, on two headsets:

So a family of 6 would have to buy the same game 6 times?
Does not make sense.
