Thanks again for voting for this idea! We have added the ability to play Rift content on Quest with Oculus Link, available now in Beta! Check out the blog post for more details: https://www.oculus.com/blog/play-rift-content-on-quest-with-oculus-link-available-now-in-beta/
Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the feature to appear within your headset. If you still do not see the feature after that time, please reboot your Quest headset and log out and back into your account on the Oculus PC software.

Wow When I asked that I didn't thought it will be accepted by Occulus, but I am glad that I asked it :) I will be able to enjoy better graphics games when I want :)

Thanks for delivering this great feature - Is there a way to opt into "alpha" testing now ?

Thank you for starting this. When I heard that announcement, THIS was the push I needed to finally jump into VR Gaming :-)
I can buy a portable head set now and start building a gaming PC while still having the beautiful Quest, which will be able to use it, but does not HAVE to.
You are just amazing! -

Great new for Rift S users who spent 400$ for a lower specs VR headset. As an historical user, I thought FB was a company who care about its customers. The desapointment is huge. I will never trust again and switch to a more respectfull VR company.

I mainly use the quest for its portability to where I can use it anywhere, but this is a great option since I cannot move my computer easily out of my small room but it is VR compatible. I would love to use this feature for vrchat when I am at home so I can join PC only worlds and not worry about a strict set of worlds/games we are able to play together. If this feature is added, it would be a good competitor to the Vive Cosmos.

Are we still waiting on this? The only reason I got a quest was because my gaming pc is not compatible with vp. My nvidia gtx1060 has a hdmi, and the thunderbolt c port is hooked up to the intel card. You killed your sales with the rift s making it vp instead of hdmi. Focus on the quest, we will all get more out of it.

This would blow the Vive Comos and others completely away. Then the headset will not only have long lasting PC support but also your good old classics when the device is 6 years old. If the device stays an standalone device, the hardware will get too old for pretty games, enabling virtuallink will give the Quest it's full power it deserves.

This would be an amazing feature. Really hope you consider this. I just returned a Rift S because my IPD wasn't compatible. I'll be living in the quest from now on.

This would make the Rift S IRRELEVANT.
Imagine if this was added: Buyers/Consumers would be very confused because, why buy the rift s? when you can buy the quest; which has pcvr support?
So no, I don't think they will add this feature

This would be great as it would allow a faster connection

Also, a proprietary solution would let Oculus decide what can be streamed (e.g. from Oculus library only, rather than allow Steam VR for example), instead of letting ALVR or Virtual Desktop take the lead in the area.

That would just bit awesome. I'm streaming to the Quest from PC over wifi and it's not ideal. If we had this, the Quest becomes an all powerful device, seriously.

Doing this would make VR take off I feel. The Quest would become just like the Nintendo switch at that point. I want this.

This would be suicide for all sales of Rift S. One of the main reasons why people buy the Quest is becuase of the lack of the need for a PC.

The developer of iVRy has a working version that does transmit the screen over USB. Technically it's possible. The setup is not "easy", requires a high end PC and even then the image quality is mediocre at best. The experience is far from "good quality". It's okayish ... but that is something that 3rd party apps can cover. Oculus wants seemless, easy to use and innovative experiences.
And I guess they don't want to spend money/time on software that enables people to buy VR games on their competitors market (SteamVR). That would be stupid.

This has to be possible. The USB C cable transfers data. So while it may not send actual video, it can send similar data to ALVR but with much less (maybe even no) encoding and no wifi latency, resulting in something near perfect.

this would be awesome!

Those saying it's not possible are wrong. They'd probably need to release a software alongside and unlock usb for casting through cable. Kill Rift S already

You should be able to connect via USB C ethernet. Then use Virtual Desktop to play Steam Games.
