Add option to remove red dot when casting to phone/other device
One of the main use cases for the casting feature is to have someone unfamiliar with the Quest using it and someone else watching what they are doing and helping them. However, turning on casting currently adds an annoying red dot that detracts from the experience of the person using the headset. Please add an option to remove it.

As always, thanks to everyone who voted for this idea! I’m pleased to announce that a new option to disable the red dot indicator has been added with the v17 Quest software update! Simply head to the Settings > Device menu and look for the “Video Capture Indicator” feature. Toggling this off will make it so the red dot no longer appears within the headset when casting, recording, or livestreaming. Please give the option to remove the red dot, it gets u out of the immersion feeling and distracts. Like others said, u know when u are casting and that the castet picture is around the middle. :)

Definitely vote for removal. Absolutely no reason to have it. You have to select casting in order to cast. We are aware without this stupid red.

Another vote for making this an option which can be disabled. I thought I had broken my device first time I saw. Red dot is very annoying.

Has there been any official reply from Oculus about this update request?
A simple option in the settings (to show the dot or not) would make everyone happy; is there a regulatory reason to force this behavior?
It seems this is a major pain point for (almost) every user, me included: I won't use the casting anymore, since it's such an annoyance . -

GUYS. Calm down. You can just put a minuscule amount of duct tape over the dot if it's bothering you. It's that simple.

why in the name of all that is holy has the option to turn off the red dot not been added? you just had a major release, how hard could it have been to add this simple function.

Imagine accidentally casting **** to the living room and getting disowned by your christian family and not knowing about it because the users don't think the red dot is necessary

This is one of the top things people are asking for and takes maybe an afternoon to program this. Still missing after 7 months lol

I suggest you have a brief popup on the screen that warns whoever is in the headset that casting is taking place, or have them select Cast or Cancel in the headset to enable it similar to how Link Beta works. Most people I show the headset to ask about that red dot in their vision. It really is immersion breaking. Would like to see a fix for this in the next update!

I bought a Chromecast purely to demo this device for others, but that damn red dot will be the sole reason I will now return it. Also, thanks for the heart attack on making me think I broke the quest. Why no warning? What where you people thinking! The dot is not in the upper right and out of direct vision, but almost dead center! Its almost like you are actively punishing people who wish to cast. Not a feature but a deterrent from getting others to try and buy. Make the red dot optional you numbskulls!

Just demoed my quest again recently, and once again had people asking about the red dot.
It really just takes you out of the moment. It sucks.

Really dislike this dot be nice if could be turned off or maybe was out of the field of vision and you could look up to check if your still casting. And with an OLED screen it makes me worry that if it's there for hours it could cause screen burn in.

I agree, please have the option to remove this or at least an option to have it moved outside of normal viewing area(not the current center of view)
