Add option to remove red dot when casting to phone/other device
One of the main use cases for the casting feature is to have someone unfamiliar with the Quest using it and someone else watching what they are doing and helping them. However, turning on casting currently adds an annoying red dot that detracts from the experience of the person using the headset. Please add an option to remove it.

As always, thanks to everyone who voted for this idea! I’m pleased to announce that a new option to disable the red dot indicator has been added with the v17 Quest software update! Simply head to the Settings > Device menu and look for the “Video Capture Indicator” feature. Toggling this off will make it so the red dot no longer appears within the headset when casting, recording, or livestreaming. The dot is such a horrible idea for such a well designed product. Come on Oculus. How is the dot still here and you haven’t removed it with an update yet?

Remove the dot please

Like everyone else here: the dot sucks. If you HAVE to have it move it somewhere unobtrusive

Absolutely terrible design feature, completely ruins any immersion. Like many others my initial reaction was a defect piece of hardware. Upon realising it was due to casting I couldn’t believe the stupidity. Incredibly invasive dot in what feels like the middle of my right eye. This MUST be changed.

The dot is really annoying, and whenever I play games while casting it to my phone so my friends can watch me, it breaks the immersion. At this point, I don’t even bother to cast to my phone, because the dot gets on my nerves.

I thought my HMD was messed up. Please remove this stupid dot. It is not necessary. I will always be casting for the purpose of showing to others that can tell me if it's working or not.

My firm uses oculus quest for VR architectural client walkthroughs... we typically cast to a Chromecast in the conference room, and it is annoying and feels unprofessional to have to apologize to clients for a red dot floating around in the middle of the screen every single time we use it.... please give option to remove red dot

Such a basic and easy option to add, please do this already.

Yes, please. Highly distracting, especially for detail oriented folk; as well as everyone else clearly.

Please let us disable this.
Casting is really nice when you're having people try to headset so you can see what they are doing and talk them through things. But that red dot ruins the experience to the point where I opt to just not cast.

Who thought about this "feature"? Completely stupid and unusable!

Don't need a red Dot. People in the room will tell us if it's casting or not.

I dont remember anything warning me a red dot would appear. I thought I may have broken it, but would have expected a black dot so worked it out pretty quick. Stupid thing to do and it should be in top top right not middle top right. Which idiot sat in the meeting room and put forward this as a good idea? Worse than that, which idiots agreed!
