Add option to remove red dot when casting to phone/other device
One of the main use cases for the casting feature is to have someone unfamiliar with the Quest using it and someone else watching what they are doing and helping them. However, turning on casting currently adds an annoying red dot that detracts from the experience of the person using the headset. Please add an option to remove it.

As always, thanks to everyone who voted for this idea! I’m pleased to announce that a new option to disable the red dot indicator has been added with the v17 Quest software update! Simply head to the Settings > Device menu and look for the “Video Capture Indicator” feature. Toggling this off will make it so the red dot no longer appears within the headset when casting, recording, or livestreaming. I'm ecstatic! This will change everything and make Quest usable as a social experience. Thank you so much for listening to feedback and removing this abomination. You made my day.

The red dot is terrible. It takes away the immersive VR experience. It's bright, its annoying, its in the way. Give us options to remove it. Customers love options. Customers love the ability to customize. Let us customize the dot. Give us the option to keep it, remove it or only show for a couple seconds when someone joins the stream. Don't force it on us.

Extraordinarily annoying, thought for sure my unit was broken, that no developer could possible do something that distracting in an immersion-based platform, but here we are, a year into production and no simple checkbox to remove this option. Pleeeaase get rid of it. I would pay to remove this dot. Anything.

I, like thousands of others, almost had a heart attack when I thought my Quest was broken when I tried to cast for friends. I feel like it doesn't need to be said again, but here goes anyways; totally distracting and complete immersion breaker. Why directly in the middle? Why no option to click it away? So many things you could do to fix the problem and yet nothing has happened. Disappointing to say the least.

Are you kidding me? This destroys immersion! I do not need a babysitter and I am not an idiot! If I don’t want to be remembered that I am casting to the TV next to me so that family can see what i am doing, then let me disable it! So entitled to force this nonsense to your customers!

If this is for privacy, at the very least make it less intrusive. A notification when casting starts and a persistent indicator on the menu would be far better.

I genuinely thought my Oculus was broken on day 1 of use and was getting ready to return it before I happened to google “Oculus red dot” and find this issue. Very stupid implementation.

Please remove this. 90% of my playtime is spent with friends, which means 90% of my playtime is spent thinking about this dot. Explaining this dot to friends. Explaining "yeah it annoys everyone" and "no they aren't doing anything about it".
I assume it's for security, like a hardwired light on a laptop to know if it is on. I definitely like the idea, but not the implementation.
Perhaps have a persistent dot when the menu is open and/or make the game fully pause a few seconds to accept casting.
But the persistent dot can be immersion breaking for a device that is made to be the most immersive tech out there.

Make the dot an option that can only be deselected on the headset, or at least move the dot further up so it becomes less annoying.

At least if you wont remove it put it on the top right corner where it is not distracting the main user

I thought the red mark was a burn in the screen at first so it's not clear to new users either what it's supposed to be..
