Oculus Quest 2 and Quest

Welcome to the Oculus Quest feedback forum! This is the location to provide all your feature requests and ideas for the Oculus Quest platform. We're looking forward to hearing from you on the following areas of the product:

  • Companion App: This category is for feedback relating to the Oculus mobile app, specifically for how the mobile app interacts with the Oculus Quest platform.
  • Core Software / Guardian: All Oculus Quest main menu, navigation, Guardian, and settings feedback should be left under this category.
  • First Party Apps: This category is for in-VR apps created by Oculus, like Oculus TV.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place.
Please do your best to ensure all ideas are original and have not been previously submitted. Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Quest!
  1. An off-by-default section of the store for "Experimental Apps" with less strict curation

While I completely understand Oculus' desire to avoid shovelware and low-quality experiences in the Oculus Quest store, there are a lot of less polished experiences which, while they may not live up to Oculus' strict quality standards, are nonetheless interesting enough to me that I'd still like the option of purchasing them on Quest.

As a compromise, I'd like to propose a section for "Experimental Apps" in the Oculus Quest store. The section could be hidden by default and only shown to users who acknowledge that apps found there are experimental and don't necessarily represent the best that Quest has…

  2. Audio

Audio distortion in right speaker fix. It's really annoying when the audio goes distorted after using the headset for a short time. Always the right speaker and lots of people complain about it in my Oculus Facebook group. Needs a reset to work properly again but always returns after use for 30 40 mins on average.

  3. Game modifications support

The one big thing that separates PCs from consoles in gaming is the modding support. With modding you can turn average games to awesome. Games like Beat Saber and Pavlov are already prime examples how a mere mod-support can carry a game.

In VR we still don't have a super wide library of long and fantastic games, which underlines the need for user generated content.

Oculus Quest should break the barrier of what is possible and bring all-in-one devices closer to PCVR.

    Requirements:
    1. Technical support for game modding.
    2. Simple user interface for mod browsing and installation.
    3. Basic…

  4. Add Minecraft to the Quest.

The Quest is an incredible system, but all the games on there seem to be limited. SuperHot is awesome but only has certain levels to play. BeatSaber is cool but arms get tired after a bit. Minecraft, however, has unlimited possibilities. The only time you get bored is when you can no longer think of what to do. I think it would add a certain re-playability to the Quest. Of course, the Quest is brand-new, and new games will be added soon, but I think that the console could really benefit from something like this.

  5. Instead of turning away apps ,have a democracy

I read that you have denyed to the top. Meanwhile that game is a big seller on other platforms and works great on the quest from what I see.

How about instead of turning developers away. Have a site or a subsection of the store to allow for democracy. Let actual users vote on wether they want the game/app or not. Let it show up and allow us the option to have it or not. It doesn't break any rules for it to not be in the store and we shouldnt be turning developers away because Oculus isn't into it.…

  6. Incentivize game development by letting the community vote with wallets and play time (see Free Market).

Creating games is easy... creating engaging experiences with replayability and lead to the recruitment of new players is the challenge.

Incentivize this achievement amongst developers by using existing metrics and exploring new ones.

Existing: Play time. Play preference (is it the first game they play when they put on the headset). Store Rating. Friends made in game. Friends invited to game. Come back (did they return to the app in the same session).

Exploring new metrics: find a way to gauge developer involvement with community. Player base sustainment statistics for developers. Genre leaders.

Also: explore ways to punish developers who…

  7. color profiles

sRGB and DCI-P3 color profiles please! The reds look way off. This can look cool in some content, but most of the time it looks oversaturated, this is especially true when watching any kind of video.

Ideally, these should kick in automatically based on the content.

  9. Fix low game/app volume

Example: Play the videos in the store for beat saber, they sound great and loud. In the actual game, not even close, much lower and not as good.

I just factory reset earlier tonight to fix the download/update issue, thinking a side effect might be fixing the sound - no dice.

  10. Wishlist in the store!

Not a big deal now since the library is still relatively small, but would be a great option once it gets bigger.

  11. Share computer vision data between headsets within Bluetooth range of each other

I want the ability to be in the same physical space as the person I am sharing a virtual experience with, using the same guardian boundaries. Whether it’s messing around in tilt brush, watching Netflix or what ever else developers might come up with. All Quest users’ bodies could be tracked using rudimentary computer vision body tracking, doesn’t have to be perfect, and represented using the Quest equivalent of Miis. Also, add a mini guardian boundary on the backs of each user that engages when crossed by another’s mini guardian - in case the users get too close to one…

  12. Performance-focused environment for main menu

The mountaintop **** is nice for showing the device off initially, but I'd love an option for a simpler environment, something like what the Youtube VR app currently has.

  14. Height adjustment for people with disabilities

Please allow height to be adjusted from the guardian setup for people to enjoy games and experiences with normal height. Many games do not adjust for sitting players and makes game interactions or functions either awkward or impossible (e.g. normal walking speed in Pavlov - game assumes you are crouched).

  15. LBE arenas support

The Quest has so many advantages over what is currently being done in LBE arenas: real 6 degrees of freedom(no backpacks, no wires), ease of use, comfort.

However, as of today, the Guardian and some other API limitations (such as no access to the cameras, no way to place trackers to correct the tracking, 40 sq.m maximum surface) make it impossible to build immersive, multiplayer arenas experience for large rooms.

This could be solved by opening up or providing some special API for LBE arenas developers which would give more control over the guardian

  16. "Companion App" on the Quest itself.

I don't own a phone, so it's been a high-friction part of the Quest's usability, but even if I had one -- why? Why aren't the Quest's features and options controlled from itself? Wouldn't this be easier for everyone if they didn't have to use their phone? Maybe not because everyone is more attached to their phone than anything...

The only rationale I can think of is that it was convenient to have the device initialized with an account (from the phone). But the need for multiple accounts is strong and this probably also requires some account management and ability…

  17. Spotify Integration

It would be great to add a Spotify like the new Spotify Stations app that you can pull up in any game you are in.

  19. Real world Passthrough window that stays put to keep track of the TV, kids, pets, baby, beer, etc.

Real world Passthrough window that stays put to keep track of the game, kids, pets, baby, beer, etc.

Simply allow me to draw a geo-static window in my passthrough guardian so that I can keep track of real world objects / people / etc.

In BeatSaber I could draw a window on my left or right side that is my TV and watch the sports game or keep my beer in sight.
