Keep Oculus Rooms!
Oculus Rooms is still a great app that can be used by families, or friends (from outside VR) that happen to both own Go :)
There's currently no alternative for Rooms on GO so I'm not sure what's the plan here. It takes away one of cool features Go already has without providing any substitution? Bigscreen, altspace etc don't have the same level of integration as Oculus Rooms.
I would understand it if it was 2021 but right now GO is still a popular device and making it deliberately worse is a bad choice imo!
This is legitimately sad: https://redd.it/dqez2o
And this message is insulting: https://imgur.com/JNVo4k0
It basically translates like this: "We're taking away this feature, but don't worry, you can buy a different headset for twice the cost of the one you have now and use a different social platform instead".

Hanging with friends in rooms and chatting/playing games was the number one reason we bought our Oculus'. Please don't shut them down!!! Better yet, build them up and add more games! The Horizon may be cool, but it's not similar enough to REPLACE rooms. Both should exist and keep updating.

Killing Rooms so that you can launch a better alternative (Horizon) in only your more expensive products. Nice one Oculus.

I bought my friend the Oculus Go as a wedding gift and we were super excited that we could just hang out at the Oculus Rooms. Now it's shutting down and we're considering returning it.

Please keep oculus rooms until a replacement is up and running.

I wouldn't mind losing Oculus Rooms if Oculus TV app actually allowed two Oculus users in a party to watch the same Hulu/Netflix show simultaneously.

Removing Rooms -- without a replacement -- is a terrible idea. Rooms is a large part of why me and my family got Oculus Go, especially hanging out while playing Monopoly Deal. And it's just going away? Why???
PLEASE RECONSIDER!! Or at least make sure there's a way to play Monopoly Deal without Rooms.

It’s a place all m sisters and friends from around the world can just hang out
This may be one of Oculus’ biggest indicators it has no intention of supporting the numerous functions of their devices for any reasonable amount of time, Rooms and what it stands for is such a core part of the Go’s appeal and use-case that removing it is removing a central functionality.
Imagine if you bought a phone and Samsung decided to patch out its ability to make calls one day, only to then tell you not to worry, because their newer more expensive phones have calling enabled.
In taking this away you’re stopping your users from being able to reliably visit friends and family who’re physically too far away, or to call a quick meeting with remote employees, or to have somewhere to enjoy the company of friends they meet online in a truly multipurpose home-like environment (Oculus TV improvements do not make up for or in any way come close to replacing this functionality).
Please make the right choice and allow your users to make and uphold connections in a way no other medium can.

What are you smoking? I just convinced mh family to get a go on the other side of the world so we could spend time together.

I have never seen any company get rid of a core app for a device or console. There is virtually no cost to Oculus to keep the app going, besides server costs.
Everyone who purchased the device for the social features, you basically owe a full refund. In Australia, it seems like you'd be legally obligated to offer refunds: "If the product is different from the description presented in advertisements or online, you will need to give the customer a refund."
This speaks volumes to the lack of support Facebook is willing to give to their devices. Every other technology company has better long-term support. It has persuaded me to never buy another Oculus device again.
Oculus Go Users expected new features from Oculus Connect, not less. Planned obsolescence is also illegal by the way. The iPhone 6 was supported with updates for 5 years. The average console life cycle is also 5 years. The Oculus Go has been supported for less than a year an a half, and they are already removing apps, with an update nowhere in sight.
I know Facebook isn't use to offering paid products, but this behavior is appalling and is not on.

Please don't get rid of Oculus Rooms, it is a great app for helping people stay in touch, if anything you should be looking at how you can improve this app and make it even better and not shutting it down. It was mentioned at the Connect 6 event that Oculus Go was a great device for social interaction and media consumption. So how is taking away a social app that allows a certain degree of Media consumption benefitting the platform? Especially with nothing to replace it in the immediate future. I guess Go owners can talk amongst themslves for the next few months until a new app comes along?

I’m so frustrated by the closing of Oculus rooms! I convinced four family members to buy a go so we could hangout in Room and now there taking it away. To make matters worse the replacement won’t work on the Go!
Talk about a lack of support for a device that’s only been out for a little over a year. We’re already being fazed out as Oculus Go owners!
Agreed. We bought a bunch of Gos for our family & now will practically have no place to go to hang out, watch media, play games, etc.!
Also, we're disappointed that the new Horizons will not be available on Go. :(
I don’t gave a go I have a quest still trying to help the go users by the way the quest never had oculus rooms

I really can't believe that Oculus thinks this is a wise idea.
For starters they are killing Rooms next month despite its so called "replacement" not even entering beta until sometime next year.
Secondly, the "replacement" isn't coming to the Go anyway!
So they are removing a major social aspect of the Oculus Go (a product which was just launched last year) and saying to use Horizon instead.... sometime next year.... oh, and you need to give them another $400 to do so.
I've loved my Oculus Go since I got it last year and while I was giving some thought into getting the Quest, if this is how Oculus treats its users for a product that is less then a year and a half old; why on Earth would I then give them double that amount of money just for the chance of them doing it to me again?!!
They say they're getting rid of rooms but horizon isn't coming to the go and rooms isn't available on quest....I don't understand the logic.

What genius thought of taking away Oculus Rooms BEFORE coming launching the new app over a year away. What will we do to play games, watch videos, play music, launch apps, etc. with multi-players in Oculus? Boooooooo. Mark Zuck please bring the Rooms back!
Totally agree. I just convinced a friend to get a go just for the rooms feature and now it is being taken away with no viable replacement option.
