Oculus Rift S and Rift

Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Rift! We're now taking all suggestions on our Oculus Community Forums. All suggestions, votes, and comments from here have been migrated, along with matching accounts. We appreciate you taking the time to share, and are looking forward to seeing you on our broader community.

As a reminder, topics are labeled in the following areas:
  • Companion App: This category is for feedback relating to the Oculus mobile app, specifically for how the mobile app interacts with the Oculus Go platform.
  • Core Software: All Oculus Go main menu, navigation, and settings feedback should be left under this category.
  • First Party Apps: This category is for in-VR apps created by Oculus, like Venues and Rooms.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place.

  1. "Hear non-VR apps in VR" options for both in and out of Dash

Currently there is a new option to enable sounds coming from Windows to output through the Rift headphones, but it only works when Dash is active. Why not have an additional option for mirroring regardless of when Dash is being used? Say you want to hear notifications, music, videos, etc in VR no matter what you're doing. Without such an option, one has to manually go and change their audio device in Windows every time.

  2. Will we be forced to use the latest Nvidia drivers when 2.0 goes live?

Will we be forced to use the latest Nvidia drivers when 2.0 comes out of beta? If yes, I'm dreading it. I have had issues will all drivers from 387.92 to 388.59 inclusive (game-related issues and Windows problems, nvidia feedback reports submitted). Currently on 385.69 which gives no problems.

  3. Playable Ukulele

Sure would be nice with some playable instruments!
    Like an Ukulele maybe...

But how would you play on it with the Touches, that's the question.

  6. Allow user to adjust angle of dash

The current implementation is exremely hard to use when lying down. Go on, try it.

Currently the dash panel needs to be below the user with the user looking down on it's upward facing icons. This limits the possible situations it can be used effectively.

If there was an option to tilt the dash panel to 90 degrees perpendicular to horizontal (or further) it would allow for much easier use in a wider range of user scenarios.

  7. Remove geometry of baseboards

The geometry of the baseboards of the home room causes balls to ricochet across the room if they're hit. This happen to myself all the time especially with basketballs and table tennis balls, and it's annoying to constantly be chasing after errant balls.

  8. Low framerate warning

An option to show a warning if the framerate in games is below 90 fps for a certain amount of time or if a specific amount of frames are dropped in a certain timeframe.

This would make it so much easier to find the right graphics/supersampling settings.

I really enjoyed moving around the minature town in dreamdeck and would love it i could unlock it to stick on a desk like a minature train set.

  10. Allow review comments or discussion forums for each game

So many times I see someone review a game and give it 1 star because of a problem they have with the game. Sometimes it's just user error and I wish I could just tell them or reply to their review but there's no way to communicate with them. It would be nice if we could reply to comments in reviews or at least have a discussion forum for each game where some users could get answers tips on issues they are having.

  11. A gallery and game assets/models as trophies

Because the home space is very limited it could get hard for some people with a larger library to display all their achievements/trophies. A gallery/trophy hall could help with that.

It could be a picture where people can walk through and are transported into a hall.

Unlockable game assets/models, tied to achievements (or playtime)
could act as trophies for harder achievements and would make the gallery more interesting.
Something like the robot models from robo recall, the robot wobble head or the figurines from luckys tale...

  12. Be able to experience a "replay" of other users/friends exploring your home.

Like the Ghost function of Janus VR, we can look at what other people (including yourself on your previous use) were doing as they were exploring your room.

In addition, there can an option for other users to see the last X number of users first Y number of minutes in that room (ex: up to the last 4 other user's first 10 minutes in the space). Rewatching that would be more fun as the most recent user recording would be reacting to the other 3 or 4 user recordings.

Such things would make your home seem more lively. Perhaps…

  13. Improved Rotation

The current method of pressing the button to cycle the rotation axis feels really unintuitive to me - Having something rotate vertically but adjusting with left/right on the joystick just feels wrong.

Instead rather than the current implementation of being able to adjust distance and rotation at the same time, have these separate to allow better control of each individually (even if it's just hold a trigger to enable rotation or something like that). The you could adjust the rotation by just holding the joystick in the desired direction.

Other suggestions that people have made around rotation snapping increments /…

  14. An option to always show a reference to sensors (transparent or customizable ones) for front reference

Sometimes it's easy to be disoriented when playing with a 2 sensors setup. You know it's not working because the tracking just don't work fine. A simple reference to the sensors in the user interface would be great, so you can always know where are you in the room.

  15. Homemade Games/Scoring

Allow targets to be given a point value, then assigned to a "game", then a score can be tallied as the player hits targets, maybe with an option to set a timer, then manually reset the score for the next round/player. No game logic needed, just a simple way to have the score counted for you.

  16. A place to shop or earn items. Hidden home items in game

Im absolutely loving the new home. Its amzing. One thing i like about gaming is unlocking new stuff, rare items, and customisation. please make a ton of stuff for this, maybe even expand rooms. this could grow into a big thing if you made many ways to expand our options. Whether its simply paying for items, or hiding stuff in games. maybe even give third partys the option to make and sell home items. like Second Life

  17. Pin leaderboards from your favourite games to walls

I like how you can pin your achievements to the walls. How about doing the same thing for leaderboards for your favourite games. When you come in you will be able to see if your friends are beating you and jump back into the game.

  20. Energy Saving

Given the potential that Dash has to significantly increase the amount of time that the Rift is worn, replacing desktop monitor use, please provide an option within Core 2.0 to automatically put the monitor into stand-by when the Rift is worn and wake-up when it's taken off.
Also (for convenience rather than energy saving) provide an option to automatically switch Windows playback device to Rift Audio when the headset is worn.
