Oculus Rift S and Rift

Welcome to the Oculus Rift S and Rift feedback forum! This is the location to provide all your feature requests and ideas for the Oculus Rift platform. We're looking forward to hearing from you on the following areas of the product:

  • Dash: Oculus Dash is the in-VR command center the pops up when you hit the Oculus button on your Touch controller. Dash allows you to access PC Desktop apps, your VR Library, and other system settings and services from anywhere in VR.
  • Desktop App: This is the out-of-VR Oculus application on your PC that allows you to do things like browse the store, manage your settings, and view your friends list, among other things.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Home: This is your customizable in-VR home where you can show off your unique style and decorations.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place. The Store category covers both the out-of-VR and in-VR stores.
Please do your best to ensure all ideas are original and have not been previously submitted. Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Rift S and Rift!
  1. add a friends voice/video chat section

Like on Xbox party it would be great to have a section on dash where you can have a constant chat with a friend so that when you want to join with them on a game you already have a communication link.

  2. Lock the home starting orientation so that real space can align to Oculus Home items.

This would allow users to make Home match their real environment - desk, chair, obstacles, etc. This will only work if the start position AND orientation are the same every time.

Home's starting orientation is currently relative to the headset, not relative to the initial Oculus setup.

  3. Snapshots from games viewable on Home TV's as a slideshow

With the release of virtual-screens for Oculus Home and the ability to display windows content in vr, I have an interesting idea. Phone have a button combination that allow you to save a screenshot of whatever is on the screen at the time and save it to a directory to view later. I'd love for some combination of the oculus button and another button on the controller to trigger something like this, saving a photo that we can then view later in Home, arrange into lists, and view as a slideshow on one of the virtual screens littered about our…

  4. guest book shows past visitors as well as current guests.

In the new home social menu on the wrist watch, the guest book feature only shows current guests in the room with you at that moment (at least I think) but it'd be nice to know whose been to the room in the past in case you forget a username or something.

  5. Custom Artifacts for non-artists

It’s exciting that we will soon have the ability to import our own creations from Oculus Medium, however for those who are not professional artists, we also need a simple software tool that converts files from Tiltbrush, Blocks, Quill, etc to the right size file in the .glb format. Animated Tiltbrush files would look fabulous in our Homes if only the formats were made compatible. Since Oculus doesn’t seem inclined to create a store where artists can market more exotic artifacts than most of us can create, we need some other sort of clearing-house for people to share/sell their creations.

  6. Crafting/Engineering for Extra Special Rewards..

The current system for loot is great and beats the ever lovin' bejuzus out of waiting a week for a raid to unlock for another ***** at that item you just can't get, but how about some cool animated gadgets like WoW's engineering stuff for our homes, BUT, you need to gather mats to create them?. If we could trade items, with other folks that'd be an awesome way of socializing and meeting up with like minded folks, especially if you could break down stock items for the parts you need for that extra special, uuuugh "rocket boots?" - parachute…

  7. Keep new embedded dash panels unlocked

I like the new screens (TV, game console, etc) which allow us to embed windows. However, everytime I start the system, they forget what I had embedded. This is made more painful because I have to go into the configuration and unlock the home setup before I am able to re-embed their respective content. So for a quick fix, allow us to embed content even if Oculus home is locked. Long term, work out a way that it can remember the content between power cycles.

  8. Have real life game accessories in the store and the ability to order it straight from the headset to your house

Like in the movie 'ready player one' the Oculus store should implement real-life accessories like haptic items and additional sensors, wires, treadmills and more. It would also be cool to be able to pick up and look at the things that we wanted to buy inside the headset and then order it straight to our house plus it would be useful to have all the accessories and especially haptics and treadmills in one place instead of having to spend hours on the internet trying to find them.

  9. Monitoring Work place & environment

Would like to have a tech room / environment, where you could have a company NOC, monitoring system and network status!

With on wall screens that can be customized to display VLC/RDP sessions, different WEB pages that are refreshed at an regular interval.

VT terminal emulator sessions would also be nice.

  10. Allow distance adjustment of the curved snap grid

I use my desktop via Dash A LOT, and I switch between VR apps and using the desktop frequently. One of the most inconvenient thing about it for me is that I find the curved snap grid to be too close to my face. I keep having to lean forward and double-tap the Home button to reposition the snap grid then sit back to my normal position so the desktop is at a comfortable distance.

It would be great if the distance of the curved snap grid is configurable.

  11. Home - Basic pre-sets for starters

I would like to see basic pre-sets, which can then be tweaked in terms of floor and decor.
(unfortunately not all are creative or are limited by time!)

    Basic start points:
    - office room
    - student bedroom
    - luxury loft
    - grand bookshelf lined, with large fireplace (Batman mansion type)
    - trading room -multi screen setup
    - etc

  15. Ability to share files or photos in home

With the addition of guests in your home, it would be good to be able to share files/photo with quests you have in your home, and they have the ability to save the file locally to their PC.

I have some old photos of me and my friend that I would like to be able to "pass to him" in VR and he should have the ability to save them locally on his PC.

This would be a very useful Social interaction ability

  16. Movie streaming sites such as Vudu will not stream to Oculus Rift With Rift Core (via programs like Bigscreen)

Due to, I assume, HDCP issues Rift Core 2.0 and dash cause sites like Vudu to not allow movies to be streamed to the headset using programs like Big Screen and Virtual Desktop. Watching these movies are my primary use case for my rift.

I opted out of the Rift Core beta and went back to the default home and streaming began working fine so the new Rift Core and Dash broke it.

  17. Widescreen Arcade Special Item

    Widescreen Arcade Special Item
I am loving the 4:3 arcade machines that you have added, but I think it would be great to also have 16:9/widescreen machines for more recent games (Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, DBFZ, etc). Even if they used the same skins and height as that ones that are currently available

  18. be able to make it like you are in real life but with a AR headset

It would be cool to be able to get in the gifts actual gadgets such as the Microsoft hololens and various smart gadgets like Alexa, also a prominent voice recognition software would be good too.

  19. Scroll/Stretch Dash bar

We should be able to scroll the dash bar left to right, or even stretch it to make it wider or 1 row taller.

  20. Core 2.0 Beta causes disconnect of force feedback racing wheel

I've found that I'm unable to use my force feedback logitech g25 steering wheel while the rift is powered, this is only present while the option for using core 2.0 beta is enabled, switching back to old oculus home solves the issue.
