Oculus Rift S and Rift

Welcome to the Oculus Rift S and Rift feedback forum! This is the location to provide all your feature requests and ideas for the Oculus Rift platform. We're looking forward to hearing from you on the following areas of the product:

  • Dash: Oculus Dash is the in-VR command center the pops up when you hit the Oculus button on your Touch controller. Dash allows you to access PC Desktop apps, your VR Library, and other system settings and services from anywhere in VR.
  • Desktop App: This is the out-of-VR Oculus application on your PC that allows you to do things like browse the store, manage your settings, and view your friends list, among other things.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Home: This is your customizable in-VR home where you can show off your unique style and decorations.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place. The Store category covers both the out-of-VR and in-VR stores.
Please do your best to ensure all ideas are original and have not been previously submitted. Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Rift S and Rift!
  1. Open all reward boxes at once

The other day it took me nearly 15 minutes to open all of the reward boxes I had earned since the last time I checked. It would be nice to just have an "open all" button that just adds whatever I got to my inventory. Grabbing the box and throwing it is only a cool mechanic the first couple of times. After about 100 it starts to get really old.

Great news: you now have the option to open all reward packs with a single click! We added a ‘Collect All’ button as part the August Rift S software update. Check it out, and claim those rewards!

  2. Clocks.

You can get the time up from settings, but I would love to have a variety of functional clocks that show the system time - possibly even ones that can be set to a time offset for gaming with friends in other timezones.

Grandfather clocks, carriage clocks, futuristic clocks, even some funkier things, like waterclocks and hourglasses that can be touched for the time.

Great news! Clocks were added as Home decorations earlier this month! You can find all the cool clocks by navigating to the Inventory menu and then selecting Decorations. Time to get back into VR!

  3. Attach monitor to wall in oculus home.

It would be pretty awesome if we could put our monitors on the wall in our rooms pernemently, so they stayed when we teleported around. Or maybe some sort of wall of apps from our desktop that we could quick launch.

As part of the June 2018 Rift software update, we added a number of items that allow you to display your PC’s desktop. These objects can be found within the Special Items section of your Home inventory. These items allow you to effectively attach your desktop to a wall within Home. As a result, we are marking this submission as completed.

If you would like to see any further refinements or update to this feature, please submit a new UserVoice suggestion that details what you would like to see added or changed. Thanks!

  4. Be able to import your own picture files as art.

It'd be great if you could import your own pictures/art off your own PC and hang them on the wall. You could have pictures of your family, dog, or your favorite piece of art for example.

As mentioned below, you are able to import your own picture files into Home by utilizing custom objects. Support for custom object importation was added as part of the June 2018 Rift software update. You can also display photos and videos using the special monitor items that were added as part of the same software update.

We are marking this idea as complete. If you would like to see further improvements to this functionality or something a bit different than what we implemented, please create a new UserVoice suggestion with the details. Thanks!

  5. Pinned windows

Dunno if this is possible, but it'd be cool if we could pin a window in home on the wall or wherever like discord for example, and it stays in that spot.

Thanks for submitting this feedback. Pinning Windows within your Home can be accomplished by utilizing the Special Items within your Home inventory. Additionally, as of the 1.32 software update, custome Home objects now support embedded panels. This means that you can make your very own special item and include an embedded panel to pin the window(s) of your choice. We hope you like it!

  6. Allow objects to be resized

You can rotate objects but you can't make them bigger or smaller!

The 1.43 software update containing this feature is now available to all users. As a result, I’ll be marking this idea as completed. Thanks again for the suggestion and enjoy this new Home feature!

  7. Open home to random users

I don't know why, but I think it would be neat to let other users, not just friends, to randomly walk around your home if it were 'Open.' they couldn't touch anything or even say anything, they could just see what others had done and experience houses that others had created.

  8. Have a dedicated Movie Room.

It could have a giant screen to watch youtube etc on their. Maybe make a an extension of the current home space so you enter a door or something that brings you to the dedicated movie room. It would be all blacked out and look like a theater. Can watch movies from your pc.

Thanks for submitting and voting for this idea. As part of a prior software update, we added the ability to select a theater template as the basis for your home, thus giving you a dedicated movie room. We hope you like it!

  9. Add a 'Mirror' in Home

Would be brilliant to add a 'Mirror' so we can customise avatar in our home, it would add excellent immersion, every home needs a mirror right!

Thanks for the idea! I can confirm that an Avatar editor mirror object for Oculus Home was added as part of the July 2018 Rift software update. We hope you’re enjoying it!

  10. Custom room layout & Scenery tool

Would be nice to recreate real room layouts.

    Entering;
    - Basic floor layout.
    - Setting wall hight.
    - Adding Windows to walls (hight/width/distance from floor level)
    - Adding Doors to walls (open or closed/hight/width)
    - Adding Openings to walls (square or round/hight/width/distance from floor level)
    - Adding outside environment (360/Panorama or ordinary photos as background outside windows/openings/doors.)

  12. Let me Place the Home-Hopping Crystal Balls as Objects

As someone who has really enjoyed setting up multiple homes, I think it would be awesome to be able to move between different homes without opening the Oculus Home Menu. For example, being able to place the "home-hopping" crystal balls as decorations on a desk or table would be great. Alternatively, being able to place wall-mounted portals through which we could teleport between homes might be even better.
If such an object or portal could be set up between one of my homes and a friend's home, that would be better yet.

Thanks for voting for this idea! Earlier in the year, we introduced Gateways, which let you link other Homes. These can be your other Homes or even a friend’s Home! You can find Gateways within your inventory while in Home. Enjoy!

  13. Add Mirrors / closet room

In the old home you could customize your Avatar and be taken to a closet room with a mirror to see yourself.
Implement that in a style like RecRoom VR.
Let us place a mirror which opens up a menu when touched to customize the avatar. That would make the room more "alive" so you can choose a new outfit before "heading out" into the World.

Good news! An avatar editor mirror was added to Home as part of a previous software update. You can find this item in your inventory and place it anywhere in your Home. We hope you like it!

  14. Customizable Home Floor Plan

Currently everyone's Home is just the same room with different skins and items. Instead, we should be able to completely customize the floor plan, make different rooms/floors, etc. This would allow for much more interesting and personalized setups.

Good news! The ability to import custom home environments / layouts was added as part of the February 1.35 Rift software update. Just like importing your own custom items, you can place a .glb file in your My Imports\Custom Homes folder and use that object as a template for brand new Homes!

  15. Add a door system and the capacity to create different room of different sizes

when you teleport to the door that you placed you get teleported to that new room you created.
i would definitely want to create one room specially for watching movie and in future (when we got better resolution) would make an office space as well.

Thanks for voting up this idea. This functionality can be achieved using the Gateway from your inventory. Simply create a second home, add a Gateway to each that links to the other, and your spaces will be linked for easily travel between the two! You can also take advantage of the Home templates to have one of the Homes be a dedicated theater. Enjoy!

  16. Provide more rooms in home

Provide different basses for your homes main layout, allow users to add new rooms with different options for size and shape. As well as provide rooms for different functions (ex. Rift Games, movie, store, toy room, ect.)

  17. Multiplayer: connecting Friend's spaces

Please allow us to create doors to our friend's spaces - this would be an amazingly immersive way of connecting with others through this wonderful virtual world you're letting us craft.

I would love to be able to see into the "next" room fairly seamlessly, even if there was a load to actually go there.

Thanks for submitting this idea! In software update 1.36, we added Gateways, which allow you to create an easy link between your own Home and other Homes. Place anywhere in your Home to expand your space and connect different themed rooms or public Homes. You can find Gateways in the Special Items section of your inventory!

  18. More Homes/Artifacts!

In order to accommodate new custom artifacts from Medium, etc, and in anticipation of additional exterior “Surroundings”, we definitely need more Homes than the current 4 and we need to have the object limit raised from 500 to, say, 750. I have easily reached 500 items on 4 homes without displaying any game cartridges/boxes.

Thanks for submitting this idea! Earlier this year, we upped the amount of Homes one user can create from 4 to 12. Enjoy!

  19. Invite friend to home (so that we can see each other)

Currently, I can visit a friend's home, but we can't hang out together.

I wish we could invite someone and then be able to see each other as well. So that we could play around with all the gadgets together or just hang out.

Thanks for submitting this idea. The ability to visit and hang out with a friend in a Home was added as part of a previous software update. Enjoy!

  20. User-Created Wall Art

Create blank picture frames of various sizes that the user can import their own photography/art into and be able to decorate their Dash 2.0 home with.
More simply, allow the users to import their own photography/art into their Dash homes.

This can be accomplished through a combination of importing UGC objects and utilizing the Oculus created Special Items. Marking as complete.
