Keep your promise and don't make Facebook link irreversible
After purchasing a Rift S in June 2020, the T&C were changed radically In Oct 2020, permanently tying the device to a service(Facebook social media site) that was/is (in my opinion) completely unrelated to the device purchaced. Ie a gaming device.
My account was linked to Facebook (for convinienece), however on making this irreversible in Oct 2020 Oculus have (in my opinon) breached the original terms set out, in that making this change permanent and irreversible was NOT "in my interest" or a requirement of law etc
I paid £399 for a device 11 months ago which is now essentially useless unless linked to a social media account, which I deleted due to it having a negative impact on my mental health. Furthermore, Facebook terms make it impossible to create a 'skeleton account' that I could use solely for the purposes of playing my device without the 'engaement' which assisted in my mental health decline.
As such I will be seeking a full refund or reversal of these conditions.
I am aware chances of receiving either is small due to a company the size of Oculus by Facebook having a lot more motivation in spending money on legal representation, combing over fine print, than they do in customer relation or any moral obligation to actually provide the service they originally sell or keep promises made.
Kind regards,
