Discard the link to Face Book
I bought an Oculus Rift S for Flight Sim 2020 not knowing it was linked to Face Book. I am 74 years old and have no time for data gathering trawlers like Face Book, however having watched a youtube video that showed you how to join and block all contact with anyone else I reluctantly joined just so I could use my headset. Two days in I logged onto Oculus through the Facebook account to be told my Facebook account had been frozen because I was not following Facebook rules?? I had not used Facebook only to log in and use my headset so how could I break any rules? This meant I could not get into Oculus!! Tried contacting Facebook as there had been a mistake made here that I needed to sort out - they do not have any phone lines, any e-mail address - any chat facilities - any customer support, they are a closed shop. I then contacted Oculus who did reply but they could not offer any solution for me. I then tried to delete my Facebook account, could not find a way to do it, if anyone has found a way please leave a comment for me how this is achieved. I then deleted my Oculus app and after explaining my situation to my supplier they agreed I could return my Oculus for a full refund. So goodbye Oculus and goodbye Facebook - its time you put your house in order and stop acting like you own the world.
So my advice to anyone thinking of purchasing an Oculus VR headset is this. If you don't want to join Facebook then look elsewhere, if you buy one you will have to join Facebook, I learned the hard way... that cost me a lot of time and upset.
