Make Oculus Virtual Desktop work for Windows standard users. Currently it works only with the legacy power user permissions.
Currently Oculus Virtual Desktop works only with legacy power user permissions on Windows 10. This problem has been discussed in the forum in January 2018 and nothing changed since then. I found out this only by a time eating investigation:
https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/72826/bug-cant-perform-mouse-actions-on-virtual-desktop-in-home-with-standard-account
I use a standard user account because this is the way to use a PC secure.
I don't want to elevate my account to legacy power user group.
Based on less information from the internet the Power user group has similar permissions like the standard user group but something must be different, because the Virtual Desktop works with that group. So I won't change my account to that group.
Other Virtual Desktop software works with standard users accounts. So it must be a Virtual Desktop software design issue.
My idea to create a power user and start the Oculus software by a modified shortcut via runas.exe results in a self testing Oculus and an error that the software can't reach the Oculus service. So I gave up at that point.

I run the same setup and have experienced the same problem. Running under a standard user also breaks some Oculus software when it tries to install Visual C++ redistributables. Running the Oculus client as admin does not seem to help.
The fact that the Virtual Desktop requires the user to be in the legacy Power Users group suggests they are using an old Windows API. Not good news if this is removed in a future build of Windows 10.
