Experimental 90Hz (or higher) mode for Rift S and Quest
As we know, display panels of Rift S and Quest are capable of running at 90Hz, but locked away due to heat or certification issues. Please provide an experimental option for advanced users to "overclock" their device and use it at higher refresh rates.
We understand that Oculus wants to provide a smooth experience for general customers but please also allow room for enthusiast users to tinker with their devices.

This would be so awesome. I hope Oculus will make it happen, at least for the Rift S

This should be next to the handtracking for Rift S request in terms of priority

I agree a 90hz option is needed very badly. I have a rift and the index that runs at 120hz all day every day. There's a huge difference between 120 and 90 as it is. I needed something more portable so I bought the rift s for the insight tracking but the 80hz ruins it usability for anything that requires quick reflexes.. it kills it. The only reason I haven't returned it is because I'm hopeful someone will make it right. I love the headset, comfortable, good display, it's light and portable but at 80hz I can't even recommend it to a friend. I feel like I would be doing them a disservice by recommended something they will quickly realized needs to be faster. Come on Oculus the Rift s needs to be a replacement for the rift not a downgrade. People that need an entry-level should get the quest. I have one of those as well as it does what it's supposed to do very well.
Has anyone tried using CRU to overclock the display to see how far it goes?
This would be amazing! Main thing that's held me back from getting this headset (Rift S) as the Index isn't available in Australia and doesn't look like it will be for a long, long time yet.
Would buy in a heartbeat if the put in 90hz+ refresh rate modes for the Rift S!

Really don’t understand why this isn’t already an option for Rift S at least, Rift ran on 90HZ? Why is Oculus trying to upset their customers...

Yes, yes please - experimental/ development mode accessing 90hz would be good
We know that they lowered the refresh rate to 80hz because they wanted to have the same system requirements on Rift S as on CV1, but why wouldn't they enable 90hz for people that have system good enough to run it? I don't know.
I have noticed that smooth locomotion makes me ill with the Rift S, while I have absolutely no issues with CV1. The most likely culprit is the refresh rate. Please give the option.
a date for the 90hz or 120hz?
the top of the rift s will be 100 or 120hz it will become a very high helmet game
there will be a date?
Hello what to do to access the rift at 90hz
do you think there will also be a 120hz mode
Many friends are waiting for the 90hz mode to invest
Coming from a 90Hz lcd Hmd i can see the difference in fast action game at 80 Hz particulary in drive sim, i feel less VR presence too .
This is my only complaint about the rift s and i don't understand people that say there is no difference between 80hz and 90 hz, maybe they haven't played on a 90 hz lcd hmd before.
If they add a 90 Hz mode the rift s will be perfect for the price.

Oculus Rift S definitely needs a 90Hz mode.
