Optical handtracking for Rift S
Please make sure that - alongside Quest - Rift S will also get optical hand tracking. Parity between the headsets should be a high priority. Currently there's no clear commitment either way and Rift S users shouldn't be left out if there's not a serious, technical reason.

"I agree with this, its like we're getting advertized that the Rift S is the best option for a high quality VR experience, but then all the cool new features go for the quest instead, starts feeling like it was a mistake to go for the Rift S, and i just bought it a week ago...."
I 100% agree to this!
Also the OQ is ******** to develop with, the Rift S is super easy to use Unity5 and Unreal Engine on a very small office space -

Please add handtracking to the Rift S aswell, the hardware is there, would be pretty scummy to exclude Rift S buyers.

Oculus we please make hand tracking for the rift s

I understand that Oculus doesn't want any "platform breaking features" on the Rift platform until a proper Rift 2 for compatibility reasons with CV1.
But really, whatever. This one's too much of a no-brainer to not implement on Rift. Let developers worry about the different hardware setups of their Rift player base.

If hand tracking is added to the rift s the valve indexes finger tracking will become a joke

From the very beginning when Rift S came out, I already knew that hand-tracking is possible, after i bought it I was waiting for that feature but I'm very disappointed that Rift S wasn't even mentioned. I will definitely NOT buy Quest, it's just waste of money to pay for portability, low framerates, bad video quality in games, Rift S is much better headset.

If they add the feature I would instantly upgrade from my 3-sensor Oculus Rift setup to Rift S, but if they don't I won't upgrade. I feel that adding the hand tracking to the Rift S will incentivize Rift CV1 owners (like myself) to upgrade to Rift S. If they don't add this feature it will be a HUGE missed opportunity, and there will be a lot of backlash from PCVR players.

It makes zero sense to not do this. I bought the Rift S because I wanted a solid PCVR experience. If Facebook is just going to leave this headset out in the cold, then why did I spend all that money?

Been with Oculus since CV1 without touch. Bought the touch as soon as it came out. Saw the announcement for the Rift S, and I sold my CV1+touch for the Rift S. Brushing aside the Rift S community and your early adopters will be a serious stab in the back. Please add finger tracking to the Rift S.

Absolutely.
No reason this shouldn’t be seriously ported over.
It would be a perfect use for Flght Sims and driving games for the presence.
That Oculus have been so dismissive of it as a possibility if extremely concerning as it displays a lack of support for Rift s as the better PC headset than the Quest which would be needed for flight sims and driving games.
Make it happen to show that you still support the Rift s or lose me for the next headset I buy.

I still bought a Rift S yesterday over the quest because the Rift S is still a master of PC VR over the quest while the quest triumphs in utility.

I feel like the Quest is getting all the good stuff and they just forgot about the Rift S.
Sure it just came out todaybut if they don't add this technology to the Rift S it's confirmed that they leave us behind.

This would make me buy a Rift S (currently on CV1)

Supported. I'm glad whoever started, this started this. While it makes sense to do, there is a long history of companies in the gaming industry not doing the things that make sense just to get ahead financially in the short term. Hopefully, that will not be the case here.

Supported, with the 5-camera setup hand tracking should be an objective, especially as there's always the non-gaming-simulation market to aim for
