Optical handtracking for Rift S
Please make sure that - alongside Quest - Rift S will also get optical hand tracking. Parity between the headsets should be a high priority. Currently there's no clear commitment either way and Rift S users shouldn't be left out if there's not a serious, technical reason.

I understand that it won't work in most games but in some games like Synth Rider I could see my self being able to play it. I would pinch the song I want to play and touch the notes with my hands instead of the controller. I could play drunken bar Fight too with this. If you just program the hands to work as game controllers I might work in a few titles.

I bought the Rift S just few months ago andIt's a wonderful headset but Oculus is making a big mistake with the lack of support.I heard nothing about Rift S on Oculus Connect 6 and this is not acceptable!

Maybe hand tracking would be trash but still you can turn it off and when playing games like beat saver you could use your controllers so I think come on get handtracking to oculus rift s

Why is it even debatable? If it's a software update there should be zero excuse to put it on a headset that relies on better parts. I really hope you guys make the right choice

Yes I want hand tracking for my rift s. I don't know why you'd consider not making it available. Also why am I not able to play all Oculus games and apps on my rift s? if the quest can play every game and app available after linking it to a PC, why can't the rift s? Please consider.

And for the record - I'm pretty sure the index will be still relevant in a couple of years - as was the vive before it. No hate here BTW - just saying as a minimum considering it's a software thing rather than hardware they should give us an indication at least otherwise peeps will jump ship.

Considering it was only released just over 6months ago we at least want the new technology device we've bought to be still as relevant as the others vr devices sold by the same company at the same price. When I read about the oculus s all I am reading from journos reviews is my device is now redundant compared to the quest - man, its 6-7 months old thats it. When I read the road map of the quest it looks like it has a future with new stuff being added - really, oculus should be doing the same with the rift s and at the same speed as the quest. I don't know for sure but I bet there is a larger base of rift s owners than quest - that means more of us will jump ship to another brand. Can't make good business sense that - they may add it later but when it comes to tech companies, software companies and governments you always have to keep the pressure on to deliver otherwise they take us for granted. Nothing wrong having high expectations.

Oculus has been very helpful with any problems I've ever had. I can't believe how frugal everyone is over this issue. VR is in its infancy. I don't think that the RIFT S will be left in the dark unless it is due to the camera placement that makes it incapable of having this option; possible that is the case, however, come on guys... Of course the moment you buy a new type of technology, you're going to be left in the dust quickly. That's not Oculus's fault; and when you get the Valve Index, it's an even newer platform/style and you'll be left behind even faster! Be realistic. Be positive! I hope they come out with hand tracking for the Rift S, but I'm very happy -- scratch that -- EXTREMELY happy with the experiences that Oculus has given me and I'm fully aware that my investment is going to be burried under new technology advancements fairly quickly -- but I'll enjoy what I bought!

Make it happen otherwise jumping ship as by not doing it I would feel a bit let down to be honest. If you were going to be doing all this (pc connection/ hand tracking) for the quest then I think oculus should have informed consumers before they bought the rift s. Maybe oculus should offer a rift s trade in scheme so people can buy the quest. The very fact I'm saying this should be enough for oculus to think that some feel conned...

If this doesn't happen Facebook has lost a customer for life. And If more people don't start speaking up I'm sure they won't care.

Please, we don't need a date but just tell us if Oculus rift S will be able to get handtracking one day or not. It could calm the community.

Give Rift S hand tracking. I have a whole desktop for offboard processing, might as well take advantage of it.

Starting to feel like i made just a straight up mistake getting an S instead of a Quest every time there is any news released about updates. Please add incorporate handtracking to the S.
No real reason not to other than not wanting to commit openly to abandoning the device in favor of the other. -

Should have been on the rift s first

Please don't punish folks who spent extra money on the Rift S. The headset has the same number of cameras and this functionality should be a priority for the most expensive equipment option.

In my mind it wouldn't make sense for Oculus to not implement hand tracking with the Rift S since they are implementing it in the Quest.
