Optical handtracking for Rift S
Please make sure that - alongside Quest - Rift S will also get optical hand tracking. Parity between the headsets should be a high priority. Currently there's no clear commitment either way and Rift S users shouldn't be left out if there's not a serious, technical reason.

I recently moved from the WMR ecosystem to the Rift S and have loved the new capabilities available to me.
If optical handtracking is something the Rift S is capable of, it would only make sense to add such a useful capability to Oculus's premium, high-end headset.

I just received my Oculus Rift S and i'm really loving it. Would be pretty cool to have this feature implemented.

I was defeated when they announced all the upgrades for the quest, especially because of this. If my Rift S was still in the 14 day warranty I would have returned it. Won't buy another Oculus product ever again if they keep it up. Very disappointed customer, although I enjoy the headset from time to time.

This needs to be a thing. It would make the S even better than it already is.

The Oculus platform depends on common feature support to incentivize developers to include it. This is especially true when it comes to user interfaces. I hope that OpenXR has the right abstractions to allow hand tracking support to included in content and simply get better over time as the hand tracking feature improves.

For starters, I don't see the hand tracking thing taking off if the Quest is the only headset in existence to support it.
If the feature turns out to be any good, implementing it on the Rift S might give it a user base large enough for developers considering implement it. -

Some people seem to think it wouldn't work as well on the Rift S, while others claim it might work better with more processing power behind it. Either way, I hope they give it a shot. I think it would be interesting to implement hand tracking over the usual controllers as finger tracking for those with knuckle-like strap add-ons, which I don't have but I still think it could still work well enough for the aesthetic and immersive experience of finger tracking.

Considering Oculus has absolutely dominated the VR market, I can't see any reason why support for hand tracking would even be a question.
