Fix Rift S Microphone intermittent quality dropping (Robot / Metallic voice)
I'd like to request you guys to fix the intermittent microphone quality dropping that a lot of users are facing on the Rift S. Here's a link to show you how the issue shows up:
As you can listen the quality drop occurs just for a few seconds, but it's random and intermittent getting people annoyed in social games like Pavlov VR, VRChat and RecRoom. Hope you guys can fix it somehow. I have opened a support ticket already but they couldn't help me to fix the problem. Thanks.

This is a very important issue to fix.

Happening to me as well - very intermittent, exactly the same audio problem as in the video.

Started having this problem this week.
Only had the Rift S about 6 weeks after replacing the CV1 because of cable issues.
Tried a bunch of stuff like everyone else and no joy. Starting to get twitchy after a terrible time trying to get help with the CV1 from support which, incidentally, was only 6 month old before it started to have issues. ****.
My mic isnt working at all. Its set as standard-device, but there is barely any signal comin trough.
I even plugged in another mic, directly into the rift (after removing the face cushion) ... not working.
Reinstalled all drivers, try'd different USB-Sockets. Nothing works...

Now I have the same problem with the robotic/metallic voice.
It happened when I switched from an Intel platform (i7 4790k, msi z97) to an AMD platform (x3700, ao elite x570). Both platforms with Win10 (1903).
I played DCS multiplayer many hours before without issues. The first time I played DCS multiplayer with my new gaming rig I have this issue with my Rift S.

I have the same problem with the robotic voice and I haven't found a solution besides wearing wireless mics, which I'd rather not do. I bought a warranty and im considering exchanging it to see if a new one would fix it.
I have the same problem, doesn´t matter if I use build-in or external headset plugged in to the Rift S. The Rift S is using both mics at the same time. I made a support ticket but it was just back and forth with possible solutions but none was working...
James, my Bluetooth earphones are the Master and Dynamic MW07; they're true wireless with no wire between the earbuds. They sound incredible for music, but they did cost $299, though now they're at $249 because MD has just released the MW07 GO for $199 (along with the PLUS at the original $299). Other Bluetooth earphones should work, too.

I have the same problem, I would rather use ear buds but the internal mic doesn't work well. I can use a wired headset with a built in mic and it fixes the issue but it's much more bulky. I will try a bluetooth headset and see if that works but again too bulk. Has anyone tried a lighter headset that works? I am using a cable extender in order to comfortably play with my rift S in my play area so perhaps thats the issue? Can anyone confirm they have solved it using a better extension cable perhaps?
I got this problem from a different angle: I usually use Bluetooth earphones; one time their batteries died and my friends immediately alerted me that my voice had turned robotic, just like in OP's clip. So the temporary solution is to use Bluetooth earphones/headphones (wired headphones don't fix this problem); that might be crummy, but it works for me. A secondary problem is that when I use my earphones, the left channel cuts in and out depending upon the position of the headset's cable; I solved this by putting on the earphones first before running Oculus Home. Hope this helps!
I have the same problem... Cant find a permant fix...

Same problem here, people was reporting me about my robot voice, one day after i got my rift S, and a friend who has the rift S too report's the same.

Might be a CPU issue.
if you have quality drops, you're lucky. Mine doesn't work period. Did all the solutions and fixes. At best I can get it working until Oculus boots up and then it goes back to sh!t, so I'm pretty sure it's their software/driver.
