Fix Rift S Microphone intermittent quality dropping (Robot / Metallic voice)
I'd like to request you guys to fix the intermittent microphone quality dropping that a lot of users are facing on the Rift S. Here's a link to show you how the issue shows up:
As you can listen the quality drop occurs just for a few seconds, but it's random and intermittent getting people annoyed in social games like Pavlov VR, VRChat and RecRoom. Hope you guys can fix it somehow. I have opened a support ticket already but they couldn't help me to fix the problem. Thanks.
I just got mine a week ago and right out the box, I was having this issue. It's odd. It's not like it happens when I speak loudly or anything it's just completely random. Hoping that it is a software issue that they can fix in the future, I'm very shocked nobody at Oculus even said anything about the issue.

I've been through two different Rift S headsets now and neither have had a working mic. they'll show up in windows, I can see the devices, but Oculus can't get any audio input from either one. I've tried updates, reinstalls, the gamut, with no avail. Definitely support this.

Can confirm that this also happens with my Oculus Rift S, had enough just going to return it and save up for an Index, which is a shame because besides this and the lack of IPD adjustment it's a perfect easy to use headset with stellar tracking considering it uses inside-out sensors.

Just got a brand new Oculus Rift S, and in VRChat everyone is complaining that I sound like a satanic robot, just like in the video. This is ********, this needs to be fixed. I'm not willing to wear another headset just so my mic will work.
OCULUS WHAT IS THE REASON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING!!!
Same it happens to me in vrchat all the time

The fact that there is an identified issue with microphones on pretty much every Oculus Rifts S is undeniable.
The fact that the problem last since too much months without any serious communication nor excuses from Oculus is also undeniable.
The fact that Oculus communication is a Joke on that matter is undeniable too.
The fact that OculusRift was my first and last Oculus or FacebookRiftish is also now undeniable !
Guys I hope you bought most of your games on Steam, so you'll be able to switch on Vive or Valve stuff the next time ! It's the only working cristal clear communication they'll understand.
Oh, and no I don't want Facebook to know what and when I'm playing !
Just started to occur this week, I am using a 8700k, GTX2080ti (USB-C port). Having to buy a PS Headset to get around this :-(
Same problem. The microphone in my Rift S worked fine until a week ago when it suddenly began to produce the static robot sounds. I haven't changed anything. No recent updates. Can't figure out how to fix it.
Currently battling oculus about this. I reached out to them MONTHS ago about this and they basically said "that sucks, did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in"... I am so frustrated. This headset is 7 months old and is unusable! The wiring sucks and now I cannot play without major issues of the microphone being stupid, the headset completely blacking out and not coming back on. I am so frustrated. I spent $400 on this thinking it'd be a long term piece of technology. Now I just have a $400 piece of garbage.
So, I've posted this topic here in oder to they could fix it but after this time down the line I realize they don't care about the Rift S. Thank you Oculus for being so nice with your customers. My Rift S is already worn out and as my first VR headset I couldn't be more disappointed. I won't consider a replace with another Rift or Quest anymore, unfortunately. Reasons? Poor construction quality and mainly lack of support from the Oculus staff. I wish you guys good luck on this platform. Peace.

Just wanted to point out that it's December 2019, and no fix in sight.
Same thing has started happening to me recently in VRChat. Im talking with them and suddenly my voice goes to absolute **** quality (which I can ACTUALLY hear in people's mic echo. It sounds EXACTLY like the clip on linked on this post.) Apparently, a friend of a friend of mine knows how to fix it. But I doubt that person with ever come on and find me.
I've got a one-year warranty on it, so I'll probably just exchange for a new one, get it fixed, or just ask for my money if it gets bad enough. Otherwise, I'll probably be switching to Vive anyways, since Full-body tracking isn't really a thing with Oculus either. 😐
I like how this problem has been around for so long and oculus doesn’t do anything to help their customers
This occured more frequently with extension wires, but still happens without them. Super annoying!
I use a ryzen 5 2600 and I can’t get people to hear me. The mic above my head in vrchat says I’m talking but nobody can hear me also I just ******* spent 400$ on this yesterday so why tf did it stop working
Same problem here mic quality drops like in the video and when I try to record or stream with OBS it does this constantly. Ryzen 2700 and X470 chipset. All drivers are latest.
I have the same issue. Showed up all of a sudden and now it won't go away.
Bought a brand new Rift S here and I'm with the same issue, I have a Ryzen 5 2600, fix it pleaseee this is really annoying for my buddies online
