Fix Rift S Microphone intermittent quality dropping (Robot / Metallic voice)
I'd like to request you guys to fix the intermittent microphone quality dropping that a lot of users are facing on the Rift S. Here's a link to show you how the issue shows up:
As you can listen the quality drop occurs just for a few seconds, but it's random and intermittent getting people annoyed in social games like Pavlov VR, VRChat and RecRoom. Hope you guys can fix it somehow. I have opened a support ticket already but they couldn't help me to fix the problem. Thanks.
same issue for me
Just got my Rift S. Same problem.
My rift s is unusable because of this mic issue. I already bought your Quest 2 like you are pushing me to do, but can you address an important flaw in a product that should not be considered obsolete?
Just got the Rift S and have the same issue, kinda discouraging to hear Oculus doesn't care about it.

I have the exact same problem. I have already heard some people say that if you disconnect the outgoing audio the mic works perfectly. So that would mean it's probably a bandwidth problem with the usb. I hope this could be fixed with a software update. But it sucks that I had to spent money on a audio extension cable and wear my gaming headset just to play vr chat.

Yeah, I have this issue as well my friends point it out to me everyday. Another person I know also has this issue constantly.
i also have this problem, sucks when im playing vrchat and this happens
I have had the Rift S since launch day and mine does this constantly. Oculus is always telling me it’s my fault. It’s not widespread. It’s just me.
There are plenty of threads about this on the internet and I refuse to ever support Oculus again after this. You can’t have hundreds of people with the same issue and not address it. Your radio silence has not gone unnoticed for those of us that spent $300+ on something that does not work.
Shame on you, oculus.
Same exact problem!!!

i have the same problem too

I've had to run down a cable wrapped around my Rift S one in order to get a mic to my headset. It's ridiculous. No RMA either, as I bought the headset in America and am now in Europe. Please fix this. Don't discard 300 people. Listen to us

hey bud, hope you read this sometime soon.
its me manuel, did you had any other blackouts during this week using your 3.0 pci card?
I have exactly the same problem I opened a ticket for the same reason as you always the horrible metallic noise which rots the whole experience in the live on YouTube I tried a lot of different ways to fix the problem there is could not have a lot of solutions I contacted oculus support I also reinstall an old version that I had kept in form: zip the oculus version on the 12th I no longer know how much is 13.1 go nothing seems to solve the problem there is no solution the problem would be software a software very badly optimized very badly made and especially the last Version it is even worse than the old badly translated one ends up with an approximate French instead of saying the right touch n 'has more battery that marked in English to know that I am French I use Google translation anyway problems reported by a lot of people see almost everyone we are at the stage of putting the microphone back for be sure not to hear sobering up and if this is the case then in this case we are silent it is scandalous to get there I hope oculus will move his *** For a helmet normally much more powerful than the first rift of the name I think it's a bit of a lie We will see what it says I will try to find a solution as an independent developer I will try to create a patch but I guarantee nothing if I get there then I will post it in the forum It is still absurd to arrive at the relaxation that an independent developer shakes his *** because oculus does not do their job for you I would be ashamed to be able to sell headphones and not ensure behind it and time that you take your responsibilities one towards the community do not think that your face is going well five minutes I hope that the next update will be all of me well translated into French and not just every other word because not everyone is English speaking t even if it was the case nobody wants to read words that we don't understand think about French speakers they exist and in addition in your oculus software I saw that there was a translation into all languages so thank you for translating your software well which will avoid me to recover an old version to modify your software I hope you understood the message
I have exactly the same problem as you with my helmet always the horrible metallic noise impossible to solve the problem in any way whatsoever is worse than its new update translated very badly the French version on ends up with words in English that don't need to be
my rift S also does this... When will a fix come?
Please resolve this issue, or provide clear direction to users on what action to take. It is abundantly clear that this is an issue experienced by users of the Oculus Rift S on varying system configurations, across various applications.
Your continued silence on this matter will not make this problem go away for your users.

hi, please fix the robot voice on the rift s.
Oculus please fix this issue! We want to use your hardware but this incessant issue will Drive is to go elsewhere...we love you...please fix it!
sorry for my bad english i am from germany.
All of the Oculus software is translated into German for me, except for the point that is outlined in red (see picture).
Windows key + R -> Control -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound -> Headphones Rift S -> Right click -> Deactivate.
Now the microphone of the Oculus Rift S works without problems, only the Oculus software shows that something is wrong because the headphones are deactivated.
Of course, you can now use other headphones, even if you do not deactivate the Rift S headphones as described above.
Simply select "Use Windows settings" in the image with the red border in the Oculus software and select a source other than headphones in Windows. So the Oculus software does not complain because of the deactivation of the driver.
Nevertheless, something is wrong here, by the way, the chip is from C-Media Inc. https://www.cmedia.com.tw/
