Support for Family accounts, Library/Media Lab environments - Manage many devices from one account
I manage a VR Lab and am juggling accounts between a large number of Quests, Rifts, Rift S's, and Go's at the moment.
It would be great if I could manage these devices from one place, see what version of firmware they are running, make purchases on one account and license them out (or whatever) to as many devices as I am allowed.
Many university libraries are interested in keeping Oculus Go's (and to a lesser extent, Quests), on hand for students to explore the library of 360 content and educational experiences. Much of that content has been supported by Oculus. The device management side is tedious and cumbersome, and it often prevents them from doing this. A library would have to hire somebody in a role like mine to manage all of it, which is usually out of the question.
Libraries want to be a place for people to come and experience this hard-to-experience media, but Oculus currently makes this too difficult for it to be worth the libraries time. This would be good for everyone!
Family accounts/family management is something I have been asked about. I can say anecdotally that it is in demand as well.
Followup: It is possible to have many devices linked to one account, but not to run the same app at the same time on different devices. (I got this information from a support ticket)
This exact thing is often a use-case for media labs and libraries: demoing content, or running students from a class through a certain educational app.
So just using one account is not currently a convenient solution.
