Option to disable/limit CPU hungry Dash features for users with low spec machines
A number of users with under performing computers are having issues with Dash 2.0 taking away performance from VR games.
If the CPU/GPU hungry features had an option to disable or limit Dash 2.0 impact it might help.

what a disaster, highend pc starts lagging just because of oculus running for a while.

There's always Oculus Tray Tool, but it still doesn't help as much as if it was native

Everything worked fine till the update rolled out. I love the rift, and i haven't owned it for more than a month. This update has rendered my rift completely useless. It is such a shame that my rift is going to sit and collect dust on my desk. Really hope an update is in the works

It ran perfect during PTC, but now that 1.35 is out, it's back to running like a hot mess!
This issue is still relevant, please do not close it.

If you notice, RAM keeps increasing.
There seems to be a garbage collector in place, but it's not going fast enough to prevent memory from leaking.I think the stuttering and hitching issues we're encountering are due to a memory leak.
Now if only fixing said memory leak could fix the amount of CPU the application uses.. -

Dash used to use 7% of my CPU.
Now it uses 23% since 1.33. -

It's so resource intensive :(

A fast and clean program / game launcher would be very desirable without the whole useless room design which is slowly loading.
Also the idea that the shop is not usable without touch is very awkward -

i7 4790k 980.
Never had issues, lots of tearing now.
Was not broke, why fix?

I agree with J. Two branches would make ongoing support a nightmare. They just need to try to isolate some of the resource hungry features of Dash and give the users an option to turn them off.

What they need is to improve performance of 2.0 not to regress back to 1.0. No it shouldn't be an option to go back to 1.0. That would make performance fixes even slower for 2.0 and ask developers to support two very separate versions of oculus software. Bad idea all around. They are heading in the right direction with riftcore but performance absolutely still needs work.

Oculus really needs to let us switch back. I hate waiting for my room to load. I will not use any of the Rift 2.0 features. Please let us switch back!

It's so simple to see the impact. Startup up any SteamVR game and note the performance headroom available then kill the oculusclient.exe task and see the performance now. For me *************exe can use anything from 1 - 8% of CPU power, this is without DASH even running and panels disabled.

Rift performance is terrible after the forced Dash update. I bought my Rift to play Racing sims. And I need every horsepower available. My Rift's performance realy took a dive after you forced me to use the new Home I don't care about all the fancy stuff. Just give me a barebones inteface and maximum performance......

Yes, Dash 2.0 has made my Rift unusable. Worked perfectly for over a year but now going into storage with my DK1 and DK2 in hopes there will be a future update that isn't about designed obsolescence. We need a way to launch our games without all the useless overhead that Dash 2 offers. Also would be nice to have the option to not upgrade Oculus software at all, there has never been an update that made things better and forced updates just ensures us that our hardware only works as long as it can phone home and update to the latest version. My old Z800 HMD still works after 20 years and doesn't need to phone home to be able to use it. For me, I'm back to using my old VR set-up with older games and my 3D DLP projector for newer games in 3D. I'll try my CV1 again in a month or so before I put it on ebay.
