The Rift Should Allow for a Longer HDMI and USB cable connection, even repeaters don't work.
I've spent way too much money on trying to improve the cord management situation and nothing works. The Rift cables are too short and not even a repeater fixes the problem, it just won't detect it unless it's directly plugged in. Such a waste.

You can by default use a simple 3m (6 ft) passive USB/HMDI extensions without the need of any repeaters.
Just so you're aware, the use of repeaters and lack of display seems to vary depending on the GPU. Some GPU manufacturers have no issue extending an additional 9 ft, whereas others require the use of a repeater
I've used two 2m cables to give me a tether to the edge of my desk and a little bit beyond. Works great with the space I have. I can give you part descriptions if you'd like?
But I would like Oculus to build a longer cable that has a built in 360 swivel. The swivel would prevent cable twisting/tangling, since that is the biggest and only problem I have found with the wires. If you dont keep track of your direction, you will eventually tangle your wires and could cause them to break eventually. But if they built a cable that had a 360 swivel, then it would be able to rotate with the user and never tangle.
search youtube for building an Oculus breakout cable. I found one video super informative and he lists exactly which cables work best and which repeaters work best. He also details which cables and repeaters do not work at all. So you should be fine if you get the stuff he has.
The firs thing you should do it isolate whether the issue is your USB or HDMI. Try using only one extension at a time and see which one is causing the issue.
It is possible that your USB ports are not able to push enough power over the extensions to power the headset. No cable from Oculus can solve that.
If USB power is your problem try
1) A better quality cable
2) A powered quality USB 3.0 hub (not that hubs are the best idea)
3) A USB PCI Card with it's own power source
See reddit Oculus wiki for options 2 and 3 - https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/wiki/new_rift_guide
Yeah maybe a built in repeater in the cables and have them be 10 ft longer.

I followed some guides online, it's a little awkward but if you buy the right cables/ones others have had success with you can definitely do it.
