Desktop App Improvements
• When typing using your keyboard, the virtual keyboard should light up each key as you hit them whilst in the Oculus desktop mode. This would allow you to visually see your hand positioning as you type without the touch controllers. This would increase immersion in a non-touch way and build on something every user of VR also has, a keyboard. You wouldn't need to take off your rift to use your keyboard anymore with this approach. Let's face it; typing with the touch controllers on a virtual keyboard; though extremely cool, is not very efficient or practical when you will most likely have a keyboard right in front of you.
• Add a mouse overlay when in desktop mode. Currently you cannot see the mouse. The only way to functionally use the desktop app is by pointing with the touch controller. Though again; extremely cool, leaving the mouse cursor on screen can't be too hard to integrate for the applications it would provide.
A friend of mine who is on the fence for buying the Rift/touch, tried out the desktop app in rift core 2.0 and loved the fact that I could play WoW on a gigantic curved VR monitor. He was crazy excited at the possibility of that(he currently has a 3 monitor setup) and was absolutely taken aback by this development. He stated that he would drop everything and buy a rift/touch kit just for core 2.0 IF a mouse overlay was added to the desktop app.
It is my belief that as PC users, basic keyboard and mouse functionality should definitely be integrated. This would also revolutionize how people play non VR content within VR, maximizing the bang for your buck when purchasing the rift/touch combo. Instead of buying that $1000 curved 32" gaming monitor, you can instead buy a $500 Rift/touch combo, get VR functionality and an awesome Oculus virtual curved monitor for your non-vr activities... So many possibilities! You practically wouldn't remove the rift when using your computer with proper keyboard and mouse implementation. Then when you want to play a VR game grab your touch controllers, push your chair out of the way and giver ****.
I understand the intent is to be more touch integrated... to have an exclusive experience, but everyone has a keyboard and mouse/touchpad. Using the tools we have invested in outside of the rift to the rifts betterment seems like a more solid game plan going forward for Oculus.
• Give the option to individually disable sound elements when in the Oculus home. I can hear it whilst watching youtube videos which isnt really that bad, it is easily drowned out. Personally I think it would be a nice feature to have added.
That being said I now watch youtube and most of my shows using the Oculus Desktop App. Thank you for an excellent product and keep up the awesome developments. I'm loving VR even more thanks to you guys!

**As to disabling sound elements- I was mostly referring to the background music.
