This needs the ability to see and use your real mouse (possibly a toggle).
As a multimedia creator (Blender, Photoshop, Premiere) being able to use my mouse (and move across various windows while doing so) is a must. I was really hoping to be able to create directly while I'm VR, unfortunately this doesn't seem possible with the current iteration.

Thanks for voting for this idea. As part of a previous software update, we added the ability to see and use your real mouse within the Oculus virtual desktop. Please note that Dash must be up for this to work. If a window is pinned and Dash is not up, the mouse is not expected to be visible. We hope you enjoy using this feature!

I think they removed it deliberately because people complained that they saw the standard cursor instead of the dot. However, the dot not vanishes if using a game that changes the cursor in any way. We need an option to bring the standard cursor back.

If you turn on mouse trails in the Windows OS, you can see the mouse in the Dash desktop windows in the HMD too!

If you turn on mouse trails with a trail of one it will show up in Dash desktop. Not ideal but it works for me.

Currently, I believe the mouse is being captured similar to the way it would be in a game. Seems like an easy fix.

I tried what Richard said and it worked well, there's only 1 trail if you slide it all the way down. Now I have my cursor everywhere! (it would be nice if I didn't have to do that though)

I think this is the most useful idea to develop.
When I'm sitting on rim, touch controller on my hands not reach the sensor, and also I can't have same precision on movement compared to use of mouse. -

I would like to be able to use the mouse on the Desktop. Is there something I have missed, or is it not possible at the moment. The way I use the Desktop, it is essential to use the mouse. It is too difficult to use Touch or Remote.

This sounds hard to do and please everyone. Some may want a curser when using dash as a monitor replacement others might not want to see a curser sitting on the screen while using multi-touch emulation with Touch controllers. One way that might work is if Windows can make a distinction between a multi-touch emulation device and a real classical mouse. If this distinction is possible the curser could appear when the classical mouse is moved and the curser could disappear once a multi-touch emulation device (like Touch) appears hovering within the monitor bounds.

I believe you can work around this by enabling mouse trails; the lowest setting isn't too annoying, and it should show up just fine.

Hard to play factorio and elite together when i can't see where the mouse is, as well as skipping videos on youtube and the like.
A rendering of the mouse location over a window that is pinned in VR would be incredibly helpful and allow me to fulfill my dream of flying in space while playing factorio.

Allow mouse to be visible so 2d games can be used within oculus home so people can have a multi display experience while gaming in 2d
When interacting with your desktop the mouse is still one of the best ways to do this, it can be hard to use the touch controls all of the time if you want to use your rift as a monetor replacement. (For example letting someone play a 2d game while also having their twitch chat open in another window to the side. )

I was personally shocked at how well the virtual mouse worked in Job Simulator... it's very intuitive and precise, just like a real mouse. Dash desperately needs a virtual desk with a mouse and keyboard.

Yeah, this.
Especially for cockpit games, like Elite Dangerous - being able to have browsers injected is awesome (netflix, fav. 3rd party resource websites, etc etc) - just need to be able to use the mouse as opposed to having to grab a touch controller, while seated at your desk - it's just clunky and kind of imprecise as compared to using the mouse to navigate with.

+1 for pointer trails, it is a perfectly fine solution.

Some people (like me) use Rift while sitting at a desk with a HOTAS, keyboard and mouse. Using a touch controller in combination with this environment is extremely impractical. Can options to use keyboard and mouse to control the dash and desktop functions be implemented?

Not sure if you knew this but you can set your mouse pointer to have a "short trail" and it will then show up on your VR desktop. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not but the setting is in your control panel.

It would be nice to be able to have a more direct mouse emulation in desktop apps. This could bring the ability to play 2d games with mouse view on a big screen using your touch controllers.
