Oculus Rift S and Rift

Welcome to the Oculus Rift S and Rift feedback forum! This is the location to provide all your feature requests and ideas for the Oculus Rift platform. We're looking forward to hearing from you on the following areas of the product:

  • Dash: Oculus Dash is the in-VR command center the pops up when you hit the Oculus button on your Touch controller. Dash allows you to access PC Desktop apps, your VR Library, and other system settings and services from anywhere in VR.
  • Desktop App: This is the out-of-VR Oculus application on your PC that allows you to do things like browse the store, manage your settings, and view your friends list, among other things.
  • General: Use this category for any feedback that doesn’t fit neatly into one of the other more specific categories.
  • Home: This is your customizable in-VR home where you can show off your unique style and decorations.
  • Store: The place where all VR app purchasing takes place. The Store category covers both the out-of-VR and in-VR stores.
Please do your best to ensure all ideas are original and have not been previously submitted. Thanks for helping us improve Oculus Rift S and Rift!
  1. The Rift Should Allow for a Longer HDMI and USB cable connection, even repeaters don't work.

I've spent way too much money on trying to improve the cord management situation and nothing works. The Rift cables are too short and not even a repeater fixes the problem, it just won't detect it unless it's directly plugged in. Such a waste.

  2. Stop putting the console where my touch controllers are or

Let us move it to where they are when we finally pick them up after putting on the headset.

  3. Fix the home area so that...

    1. It's not impossible to get back to your game. 2. You can automatically reposition/recalibrate the home area and virtual console to your position in the play area.

Also, just to add more features to the whole experience, make it so we can see a clock or watch or time while in any game somewhere based on some universal gesture.

  4. Option to persistently disable ASW

Asynchronous Spacewarp seems to be set to "Auto" upon restart. I want to completely disable ASW. Currently, every time I play a Rift game, I open the debug tool and disable ASW manually. I would rather not have to do this on every restart, and instead have it persistently disabled.

  5. Add setting to Deactivate oculus rift 2.0 function on Xbox controller in order to play non VR games on PC such as fifa

While lunching fifa (nonVR game) on oculus rift beta 2.0, the xbox controller buttoms functioning as touch controller, LT zooming the screen, RT opening another screen and so on. Therefore, if you can add an option on Oculus rift setting to deactivate these function on XBOX 1 game bad will be great in order to enjoy the game using the screen on Oculus rift. Also if we you add an option to remove the pointer on the screen that moves according to head's movement as it bothers while playing the game and it does function as pointer on game selections.

  6. Have an indicator when holding the Home button

My GF picked up the rift after I enabled the delay on the Home button. She was, however, very confused that the Home button "didn't work". I wasn't home to explain the change, and she assumed that the Dash was broken.

Perhaps use the capacitive button to show a small blip over that controller, then when pressed have "hold to open dash" or even just a little "clock" that counts down visually

  7. Fix the keyboard issues on Oculus Dashboard

So support has been absolutely unable to help me fix an issue with the dashboard and they pretty much shrugged it off and told me to create this here.

A combination of random of buttons can be pressed and it will ***** up the keyboard, we need a buton to reset the settings.

  8. Make the pinnable wrist-watch more than just a stretched donut.

I'd like to see a model more like the wristwatch in rec room as an option
rather that the big bulky torus that shows up right now. Also, what happened to hands in dash? the whole point of dash was to let your vr hands access the menus, and with the most recent update I can't get my VR hands to show up when dash is open! That's a major step backwards!

  9. allow watch to be changed to right hand

They have recently added an experimental wristwatch, that can tell the time, and can even be pinned to appear in apps, however, there is not an option to move the watch to the right hand. I think this could be a good feature for lefties(and me, because I like to wear my watch on my right hand, even though I am right handed)

  10. Integrate FB messenger with oculus

A lot of my family and friends use facebook messenger to contact me IRL or call me. It would be nice if I could get like a small message (I'm thinking like a small test window up in the top right or left of the screen) or sound from the dash letting me know when friends or family have messaged me in messenger.
Also, it would be nice to respond VIA a built-in messenger app in the dash. Like answer calls on messenger or respond to texts VIA built-in app.

  11. Revert some features

Some of the functionality in the newest version (added a few days ago from this post) is inferior and harder to use than the previous version.

    • Having to hold 'X' for right click instead of just pressing it

    • It's seemingly attempting to load the Home in the background
whenever you open the dash whilst in game, which plays the home
music at all times whilst using the dash. I've noticed some major
performance hits whilst it is attempting this as well.

    • The dash bar seems to no longer have the "Recent Games"
functionality by hovering over the Occulus logo on…

  12. WebVR support would be awesome!

WebVR still doesn't work in Core 2.0 outside of Supermedium... I'd like to be able to use WebVR applications without having to use Supermedium's weird interface.

  13. Hotkey Toggle

Hotkey to pin/unpin unhide/hide the Dash monitor overlay.

Crowded cockpits (eg. DCS World, Elite Dangerous) would benefit from the ability to quickly toggle the computer monitor display on/off, by hotkey or voice command (Voice Attack).

It goes without saying the Dash overlay should reappear in the same place when toggled.

  14. Cooler game start up transition

When loading a game maybe make the transition cooler(not just looking at a little square with the name of the game)

  16. Make the Dash buttons pop off the dashbar into a 3D button

I've had a problem for a while now where even though Dash's bar is very easy to navigate, pressing the buttons (especially when posed with the pointer finger extended) is very difficult because the hand doesn't lock to the button and depress it, it just moves through a flat surface and then the button may or may not scale a little bit before activating. I think a way more VR-focused way of using Dash would be for the buttons to be flat when not in view, but when they are on the dash panel they extend upward off the dash…

  17. Add Friend via SOCIAL tab while in game

In any game, should be a live list of "currently playing with" people. A "send friend request" should be a quick / simple 1 click action.

  18. Drag Dash Windows to TV's and Monitors

Currently, the way to put stuff on the monitors is pretty good, the UI works well, no complaints there.

But I think it'd be nice if we could drag a window we had open in dash over a TV and it would "snap" onto it. Pretty simple :)

  19. Only A & X Touch buttons should act as clicking

Clicking/selecting with triggers is inaccurate: as you pull a trigger, the aim shifts, causing irritating miss-clicks.

You could think it as a shooting with an imaginary gun. You point with your index finger and then click with thumb to activate (shoot).

The current setup allows you to either click with the buttons or triggers, but that is not consistent and may encourage the more inaccurate method for new users.

  20. Wurlitzer Jukebox

Could you please design a working Wurlitzer Jukebox which can play music from our personal collections to use in Core 2.
It would be one of the most awesome additions to bring life to the place.

Apart from integrating Sophia as a personal AI companion.
